I still think the success of WiiWare largely depends on if/when Nintendo releases an external storage solution. My speculation as to why they have not already done so has to do with the increased possibility of software piracy.
Agreed, to me it seems that gamers in the 90s were all on the same team so to speak, because each person would pitch in to satisfy everyone's gaming fix by taking turns buying games and allowing everyone else to borrow them. Everyone did their part to contribute to the hobby, and getting a different console was actually encouraged so that everyone had access to as many games as possible.
Nowadays you get clowned on for having a certain console; it's ridiculous.
Quite a feat tho I'm not really too surprised given the game's level of anticipation.
Just curious, when did Nintendo advertise the Wii as being for kids and grandmas? The Wii commercials I've seen have ppl of all demographics and backgrounds.
I personally don't consider voice or chat support to be a required characteristic of a good online service because it doesn't make sense to have it for all games.
Nintendo should've had it in Battalion Wars Wii because it makes sense to communicate in that game in order to strategize. In Mario Kart Wii however, that type of communication adds nothing to the core gameplay.
Improvements in online play are very apparent from Mario Strikers to Mario Kart, and even from ...
Agreed.
"The message "So-and-so fought four battles with such foes as a Mu" isn't too descriptive. What exactly is a Mu? And why did it keep sending our black mages back in shambles? We wanted to know."
Reading the play-by-play account of a lost battle is the key to defeating the enemy. Only after reading these detailed reports did I find out why my warriors were being wiped out by a particular dungeon boss - it would cast Protect to make it impe...
Remember when everyone ditched the N64 for the PS1?
http://www.next-gen.biz/ind...
Summary: Other than in Japan, 3rd-party Wii sales are comparable and have even outperformed 1st-party Wii sales over some half-year periods since its release.
EDIT: lol not really sure how someone can disagree w/ actual data...
Props.
And that's what I was trying to get at... that everyone has the freedom to formulate their own opinion about what "hardcore" and casual means w/ regards to gaming.
Hrs spent gaming per week, the type of games played, the difficulty of said games, etc. have all been used by various ppl to define what it means to be casual or "hardcore". As we have seen countless times on N4G, little gets accomplished in a debate over whether something is casual or not when the...
Not sure where I came off as defending the Wii in that statement but I suppose as Maddens Raiders you already made an assumption before you even read my comment and in that, I am not surprised.
I am however surprised by your new obsession with sidar and myself, as you've recently resorted to citing our names in your posts on the verge of being libelous personal attacks in an attempt to devalue our opinions and muster some respect for your own. I don't know how sidar feels, but I...
The problem is that the difference between casual and core gamers is as open to interpretation as the term "next-gen".
Obviously there will be ppl who are extremely passionate about WiiFit. If one person plays WiiFit for 2 hrs a day and another plays MGS4 for 30 mins a day, who's more casual? I think it's narrow-minded to label everyone who buys WiiFit a casual gamer.
So in other words...
McD's has mass appeal while Ruth's Chris does not?
This game is ridiculously addictive. $15 for this is a STEAL.
He admits to having a penchant for writing lists. At least he doesn't admit to having a penchant for writing objective, high-quality lists tho lol
ROFL Scerick!
The premise of this game just makes it seem like it costs too much IMHO. I need to look into it more tho since I'm basically judging this book by its cover at the moment.
Capcom begs to differ.
Casual gaming has always been around. The only difference now is that one of the major players in the home console industry is putting more focus on that demographic than anyone has done before.
While avid gamers have increased in numbers, blame the huge influx of casual gamers for the tremendous growth of the gaming market as a whole.
I'd be worried about the future of "hardcore" gaming if the overall size of the gaming market remained stagnant despite an...
The WiiFit balance board is much more technologically-advanced and versatile than the Les Paul included w/ GH3, and both bundles retail at $90 AFAIK. Personal opinion dictates which is more of a rip-off.
