I had the wrong impression of WiiFit until I watched the Miyamoto interview in which he basically says what you've described. WiiFit is more of a stepping stone to getting in shape in that it makes you aware of your weight and balance, and ppl who are constantly aware of these things are more likely to do things like eat a light dinner if they had a lot for lunch. My left hand started hurting because I was holding down L almost the whole time to fly around fast using afterburners while using the d-pad. The fact that there was unlimited afterburner (AFAIK) means more often than not, ppl will be using it. It gets tiring after a while (both holding the L button and the game itself I guess lol).
Ya I actually played the Ironman demo early this morning and it's a decent game, but my hand started to hurt after a while =(
Ya, kinda pissed I missed the Ninja Gaiden DS demo but I played it briefly at Gamestop and will probably get the full game anyway.
lol Ultros is such a hilarious character. Yakra from Chrono Trigger had a similar role in providing comic relief but Ultros' dialogue and cameos are much better IMHO. Props to IGN.
I seem to remember getting a number of disagrees for a response I made a week or two ago to someone who said GTAIV was going to end the Wii, citing Mario Kart and WiiFit as major contenders to the GTAIV juggernaut.
This series has taken on an interesting art direction. I myself always saw Pitfall as having a serious Indiana Jones-esque type of atmosphere until Pitfall: The Lost Expedition came out w/ a cartoony feel in '04. I'm not sure if I like it or not but I applaud any decision to go w/ artistic styling in favor of photorealism (which has become boring and commonplace IMHO).
Lost Winds is most likely going to be my 1st WiiWare purchase. The FF:CC game is definitely appealing as well tho.
I remember having to use Matlab in college and I hated it lol. Never thought I'd hear the name again, particularly in a good light such as this.
I like the fact that they opted not to put much emphasis on motion controls because it doesn't really fit the game. We've seen too many instances where devs try to push motion controls onto gamers in games where it doesn't really make sense to have them IMHO.

Being *for* kids is not necessarily the same as being kid-friendly. It's interesting that whenever someone says that the Wii is for kids, no supporting evidence ever accompanies the statement.

I agree actually, 100 million by 2010 seems very optimistic to me, even if we're talking about Dec 31st 2010.
The phrase "being white enough to afford all of the consoles" is very open to interpretation IMHO. I myself thought it was some sort of jab at white ppls' [apparent] tendency to be materialistic.

100 million in 2 yrs seems a bit much to me but the Wii doesn't have enough in common w/ previous consoles in terms of appeal and potential to bring about new ideas for me to make historical comparisons and state definitively that it will not sell 100 million units in that timeframe.
Having read the article, a more accurate title would've been:
Hirai: "We're not *just* competing with Microsoft or Nintendo"
If true no matter how good the game is, certain individuals will still hate on it for
a) not being new IP
b) not having mature themes
c) not looking as good as it could have on the PS3 or 360

Nothing wrong w/ having more fitness options in the gaming realm. I do appreciate EA's approach to this as more of a focus on cardiovascular work rather than simply a WiiFit clone. Who knows, one day I may be interested in these fitness games.
