Ahhh, I didn't take renting into account because I havent rented in a long long time. It would be tricky to make a system that supported renting as well as fighting piracy.
$60 really isn't that much for a video game. I paid the exact same amount when I bought perfect dark for the N64 in 1998. 13 years later and the price hasn't gone anywhere. Considering the scale difference in the size of a dev team it takes to make a triple A game now, compared to 13 years ago Im inclined to say that Im not opposed to companies trying to make more money by limiting used sales. This is a much better idea then say, jacking up the cost of a new game to try and cover the ...
Well, collegehumor and dorkly are owned by the same people and predominantly have the same actors / voice actors in their videos. Not that I care about another site embedding, I just wanted to throw that out there.
The impression I get is that they're referring to the timing and speed of animations. This is akin to using different animations for a cutscene than for in game. While its nice having long drawn out animations for dramatic effect it doesn't work as well when gameplay is contingent upon an animation cycle completing. Things like exiting tank animations, manning a gun turret etc. can look better with flair. However when there's a player on the other end waiting for his avatar to hur...
lol beat me to it...
Much more impressive improvements than the jump to DX10 I must say.
Thats kinda misleading headline, they were commenting on what had to be done to move the game from its reduced framerate to its current 30FPS. As in, if the game thinks it takes 5 cycles to do something it will appear completely wrong on a system that is now processing things twice as fast. It was not about how it was hard to achieving a decent framerate on the 3ds.
Damnit why don't I have this game yet...
Mathematical! Bubbles for Jake!
You transitioned poorly into 3D!
Dramscus, I with you on that.
I've loved pretty much every core Mario game except for the Galaxies. What gets me most is that it lacks any feeling of progression. In Mario 64 and Sunshine, there were lots of Stars that were hidden and you could pick them up while in the zone for another star. In galaxies (less so with the second than the first) it just feels like you're being shot around and you're never really sure where you're going until you end up at a sta...
@pixel
Right, but as I mentioned player count is based on graphics capabilities. No one is saying massive player counts isn't possible on consoles, mag proved that. All people are saying (the devs) is that 64 players with the graphics of BF3 is not possible on consoles. I for one, believe them and do not think they're being lazy about anything.
Cool story bro.
Ill say its news worthy since it is a really good write up.
@pixel
Mag may have had massive multiplayer but its graphics were not even close to the level of BF3. Its a give and take. Sure you can have 256 people running around, but not at the same fidelity of 24 players.
osch,
Its the same damn game. They aren't doing more for the PC, the PC is just capable of doing more. I don't know what you think making a game is like but Im fairly certain whatever impression you have is completely wrong. They aren't spending more time making the PC version, quiet likely they're spending less time actually since it requires less optimization and fine tuning to get running excellently.
Everyone I know who has an iPhone (when it was exclusive) in Seattle pretty much ripped on its abilities to make calls non-stop, but had the mentality it was worth it since the iPhone was in a league of its own for a long time. I have verizon, which I still think sucks, but I never drop calls at least.
Mainly the whole carrier system is just a bad model since it ruins (maybe not ruins... but definitely hinders) the product for anyone who has a different cell phone provider. ...
It wouldn't be Idra without drama. I swear, I don't know how he does so well when all I ever see him doing is rage quiting.
I was hoping he'd announce a PC release. If they did a full PC release with mod capabilities that would be amazing. The first gears went to PC but all you could do is make maps / skins. Very weak considering Epic usually has some of the best community support.
HYPERBOLE!
"Gamers and consumers alike were asked to step up and defend the industry, however when it comes down to it; the industry doesn’t even come close to repaying the favor to consumers. It’s a complete and unadulterated double-standard."
They make you games, that you enjoy. Seems to me that they're holding up their end of the bargain.
