I literally JUST signed for a new PC delivered from Fedex on the same day the delay was announced. But, I'd rather have an optimal game than an early game.
My only regret is selling the 360. 2 months with no GTA Online? Ugh, I must resort to playing other games I suppose.
Ha. That's a lot of generalizations in just 3 sentences. Heist hype was only generated by the players, Rockstar simply mentioned it, never any details until just a few weeks ago.
The architecture is close... sure, but, the PC version has 4K support a replay editor and perhaps some other enhancements (custom music, mod support, Steam integration?) we aren't aware of.
Given the unique features, it is also hard to define it as a simple port.
Returning to the open world roots... that would be nice... I had extremely high hopes for Absolution. While it was a fun game, it certainly did not feel open at all. It felt incredibly linear and small.
I truly hope that they really break Hitman wide open on this next installment and set the series up for some innovative online play.
It would be epic if a future Hitman Online game took place across a series of cities, vehicles, with free roam/story missions...

I think the most important question isn't "where" GTA will go regarding the city; but HOW will it expand from this point forward.

It would be awesome... but, I have a feeling that the layout of the city itself is too limited. The emphasis would undoubtedly be TOO focused on gambling as well.
However, Fallout did it. You could do some really cool heists/missions/jobs too. It would be pretty sweet, just doubt it will happen.
This brings up an important point re: modding... with GTA IV, there were some seriously annoying issues w/ Steam's auto-update being folded into the installation process. You needed to roll back the version in order to use most of the better mods out there. This process was finicky at best.
With a retail version not attached to Steam, v1.0 would be installed no matter what. Then you could simply find the appropriate patch (1.0.4 I think?) in order to make it much more mod...

I stopped all the way back at Revelations... for the same reason... it just felt like I was playing the same game since 2/Brotherhood.
My only regret is not playing IV/Black Flag... I'm too much of a purist to jump in after missing 2 games.
