Here's the thing. MS isn't going anywhere. They are making money. They have been for awhile now. And they will continue to make money. They have enough diehard fans that they will continue to make money no matter. They are only competing with themselves. If they are already profitable and their margins are good, all they want to do is make more money. Not necessarily more than anyone else, just more than what they were already making. So no, ms isn't going anywhere.
They need to show titles side by side from an og X1 and a Scorpio on both 1080s and 4Ks. Show everyone a reason to purchase a Scorpio. If its not that simple and can't be done Scorpio is dead before it's even released.

But those graphics whores need to see substantial progress graphically. MS needs to sell us on what's premium. Can't call it premium just because it's more expensive. If they sell it at the $499 price point they really have to sell people on what's premium about it. With multiple examples. Not just some better looking vegetation on a fps.
Probably the furthest from a fanboy here, this will be the 4th ms/Sony console this gen I've bought. But I mostly game on multi's and I'm sure I'm not the only one who enjoys madden/cod/gta/rdr/bf etc. From what I gather those titles will play and look significantly better on day 1 with no patch needed for them to look and play better. If the rdr/maddens of the world don't look significantly better than the og X1, PS4 pro, then it might be the last ms product I purchase.
If anything is capped it would probably be for online parity with og x1s.

MS isn't competing necessarily with sony anymore. Scorpio in essence with only the X1 is it at all with anything labeled as a generational product. The Scorpio is just the new beginning way of how ms is conducting business. They have already came out and said this is their new business model. I personally am not halo fan but to say it's milked is pushing it imo. It seems like allot but over 3 generations i don't think so. But it does seem to be allot at face value.
No one is expecting anything to beat anything. If it makes u feel better Sony won. Good job I guess for "winning". MS doesn't do generations anymore. So Scorpio isn't necessarily going against anything.
Remember there is no Xbox generations any longer. Every console from here on is just an upgraded version of the one before it. I expect the Scorpio to sell well but nothing in regards to records. The next iterative console after Scorpio I suspect will sell better as MS better communicates the Xbox ecosystem.

I have to see the differences between what the multi's will look like on my pro vs this before I say day 1. If the differences on games like COD/madden etc are negligible I'll prolly pass. I need drastic differences on multi's to buy one day 1.
If they launch in 2020 then we might for the first time have a direct Sony/MS holiday season. I would expect the next console from MS in 2020.
