It's not mid-gen. MS has said over and over again they are no longer in the business of generations.
To me E3 was just a let down from everyone. Made me question why I get excited for it. So blah.
@ lelo, when the hypothetical person you're talkin about has to choose only one. He or she probably wonders two main points, which look and play better and which do my friends have? In the US more than likely both answers is probably the Xbox going forward. Sony has many more exclusives but I don't believe the avg American cares about Nioh or that Spider-Man is exclusive. They want the best graphics and COD. Remember the avg consumer isn't as informed as the usual N4G user.
Personally the Kinect wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. But I think the Kinect is still fresh in people's minds and weren't going to dive into VR til it's actually as good as they promised the Kinect was supposed to be.
@masterfox. As an owner of Forza 6 and driveclub. What you're saying could be opinion but far from facts. I'm a huge car nut and driveclub was decent but forza is on a whole another level above it.

I'll parrot what a bunch of others have said. It's DOA. They showed some games I'm interested in no doubt. But they gave me no reason to go out and buy the X1X. When EA came out I was expecting some nicer madden visuals or something. I need to see some videos in the future of OG X1 vs X1X comp videos. And if they look remotely the same, people like myself will largely ignore it.
I thought the show was borderline garbage. But done? They are making money hand over fist they aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Might see another console sooner though. There was a few games they showed that looked interesting too. I'm really intrigued by the artful escape.

I remember someone awhile back posting that Sony had the SWBF promo license but Scorpio was getting the 4K patch first or something stupid along those lines. Someone at EA posted it to twitter and had to delete the tweet.
Why do you or anyone care how many boxes of whatever console sells? As long as it continues to be sold and has games to play on it(exclusive or not is irrelevant) but has games u should be happy. U chart thumpers are lame.
Is the definitive COD, SWBF, Madden, etc in 4K not games? I can't care any less if another platform can or can't play a game. Exclusivity is irrelevant to me. Because it's not the last qtr of the generation. MS isn't doing things like the business models always had. In 3 years they'll be another console and three years after that another. All the while BC with all games back to the X1.
And your point being? More multi's are released every year than exclusives. So people who buy the multi's are getting the definitive version. So what's your point? Are multi's not games?

When as you say Scorpio 3 hits the market, the og X1 will probably no longer be able to play the latest games. When 4 hits only 4 and 3 would be compatible. But all going fwd would be bc with games going back. Similar to the PC world.
I think it will change the industry. It only has to be a moderate success to change the whole industry. Console gaming, atleast on Xbox, will mirror more the PC world and a little cell phone. New consoles every 3 years, and every game BC.
