I think this is indicative of why the HDDs keep getting larger this generation. HDD makers keep making larger drives and as demand for smaller ones decreases the price per unit to manufacture goes up and they have to charge more for them. With the original Xbox Microsoft probably should have upgraded to larger drive that was available at a better rate.
Yeah. The only reason I could accept as to why they wouldn't include Blu-Ray would be because it wasn't large enough anymore. I think that Blu-Ray was so bleeding edge when PS3 came out that it might still be standard, and of adequate size, by the time Sony wants to release new hardware. It's been out for 2 years now and it's only just starting to catch on. In five years time I expect Blu-Ray will be pretty standard for movies and that it will be widely used for a further few years after that...
You are absolutely correct. Cnet has really gone down the tubes and this brainless piece of drivel just does more to confirm that fact.
I suppose it's possible - I mean if it's a bug it's a pretty bad one, and they haven't made any attempt to patch it. Maybe it's just damage control and something will happen to you when you start the game, but it seems pretty weird to include such a potentially game-breaking "glitch". They had better have something clever up their sleeve to balance it out.

It's not going to stop me from playing a game that I want to play, but at this point it just seems really dumb to be releasing a game without trophies with no plans to even release a trophy patch - especially when you already went to the effort to make the achievements for the game. Including trophies, particularly right now when only a handful of games support them, would help them sell more games, period. And isn't that the point?
It's true that their pricing structure doesn't make sense. If you can buy an Arcade and a 120 gig HDD for less than an Elite then one of these must be true:
1) Microsoft wants the Arcade to sell better than the Elite
2) Microsoft hasn't thought of this - which is stupid.
I have to think that they make more money on the Elites, but they have seemingly removed any incentive for getting one aside from if you just really want a black 360.

I think the point is to have a meta social layer for the whole PS3 community. Right now if you want to find someone to play online with who likes the same games as you you have to come to a place like N4G. Home could allow you to just get a PS3 and start making friends right away - one stop shopping.
Remember that they showed a little bit of the website that is to be associated with Home? We haven't heard anything about it in a long while, but that could be great for organizing ...

Yep. Lack of competition is why the US has fallen so far behind in internet speed. I supposed you could make a case for it also being do to a lack of regulation (Japan and S. Korea don't have fast internet because of competition), but competition > regulation if you ask me.
