Never been a fan of the series, but it's nice to see that a AAA title will be running at 1080p 60fps. Hopefully more and more devs will follow suit as we get further into the PS3s lifecycle.
Really hard to argue with this one. Let me preface this by saying that I found the Xbox decidedly underwhelming (grotesquely ugly, not enough good games etc. etc.), but I think, especially given the landscape of the industry, that it has to be credited with demonstrating that online belongs in the console market. That and the inclusion of a HDD (which they have mind-bogglingly flip-flopped on for the 360) definitely make the Xbox noteworthy in the history of the evolution of console gaming. #...
Like flOw, this is the sort of game I wouldn't go to the store to buy on disc, but I'd certainly purchase it on the PSN - same goes for the rumored Loco Roco.
And I agree, Katamari and SIXAXIS belong together.
Since when is 480p an HD resolution?

The answer we're looking for is NEVER. Plenty of PS2 games have output in progressive. i or p, 480 is still SD.
publishing royalties - yes.
mechanical etc royalties - no.
This really depends on the deals with the publishing companies. If you license a song for a game/film you don't pay more if the game/film sells more copies, but I don't know what deal they have going here - I'm sure it's complicated.
Comparing the song pricing to iTunes or the like ($.99 a song) is ridiculous. Can I burn it on a cd? No. Can I play it on my iPod? No. Almost all of them aren't even the original recordings! $2 for a cover?!? The logic really breaks down.
I'm sure their hands are tied to a certain degree because of licensing, but someone has to take the hit here.

is the cord from the nunchuck going??
It would be tough, but I'd probably have to go with Linux. I'm thinking in terms as my work as a web developer. I'd still have to run IE though - and Wine just isn't there yet. sigh...
Point is - thank heavens for OS X.
I signed up for a year of Xbox live when I got my 360 last year and I'm always left wondering "what am I paying for?". I won't be renewing when my subscription runs out - if I feel the need to play online I'll just turn on my PS3.
And I've been really unimpressed by Gears online play - so I don't really have any interest in this update, but if Epic wants to give it away no one should stop them. I appreciate when a company makes the effort to take care of their custome...
With the exception of Deadlocked (which, to be fair, isn't a Ratchet & Clank game but a "Ratchet" only game) every R&C game has been absolutely top notch - unmatched production quality. Can't wait for this one.
Now that Sony and Immersion have made up - if they were going to put haptic technology back into the controllers I would expect it to be not the "last-gen" rumble, but Immersions "next-gen" TouchSense (google it) technology. If it does what they say it does, I say bring it on!
The reason I play games on console and not on PCs (primarily anyway) is that for less than the cost of a decent gaming rig that will at the very most last 2 maybe 3 years I can buy every major console which tend to last around 5 years or more. This gives me access to a very wide array of games and lets me play them on my couch! I don't want to upgrade my hardware every year or so - I want to invest in it, get my money's worth and replace it when the next-gen comes along.

$160 - $200 for a comparably sized external?? Where are you shopping? Is it gold plated or something??
The other thing that makes it a ridiculous ripoff is that you can't use it with anything but a 360. The cool thing about external drives is that they are portable. The 360 drive is really just an internal drive inside a case so the price comparison to externals isn't really a reasonable one to make.
I won't be buying this.
this game will have to be featured in "Games for Rich Bastards".
I'd better start saving.
if
1) It wasn't edited from multiple takes - which it clearly is
2) It didn't have mistakes (if you going to edit it, why not fix those??)
He's still probably better than I am, maybe...
I wonder - without Red Octane being involved - will we be able to use our GH controllers? I hope so. It would be lame to have to have different ones for each game. As it is we still can't use our PS2 controllers on PS3 - I really hope they release a patch and an adapter for GH3.
I just recently played through Gears and I have to say it was the least fun I've had with a game in a while. I found it to be super repetitive with the "boss" and vehicle parts thrown in to mix it up being pretty lame. The cover system is sort-of innovative, but not being able to jump is retarded (you can't "mantle" over something without first taking cover - but your useless teammates can). I didn't find the cameras all that impressive - some cool new stuff, but they rea...
I got my 360 about 8 months ago and yeah, I feel a little ripped off. If I was one of the several hundred thousand people who bought one in the last month I would be FURIOUS!
he he... this is a funny bit of news. They've had these in Japan for quite some time. You can take a pic of it with your phone and get info about it on the web on your phone. It's cool tech, but we're still years away from the US giving a rip about this sort of thing. Good of them to start using it, but really... whoop-dee-doo.
