Warner Studios did. Look at the domino effect it sent off!
We have to pay to furnish our online "home"? That sounds like a MS move.
I own BR, as well. I was tired of seeing the BluRay version of a dual-format flick with less features, exclusives, etc. That, and only recently is the spec getting to a point where it outshines it's now-defunct competitor.
This isn't fanbait or anything, merely ME wishing to see BR's content be all that it can be.
I don't see why you felt like I was wrong.
I own 7 HD-DVD's.
4 of them were the dual disc (dvd on one side, hd on the other) - so no big loss there.
Of the remaining 3, they are format exclusives and I have been enjoying them in HD for a long time now, with no waiting.
I got a HD add-on for $150 used back in the day. I don't feel ripped off or sorry or anything else. My investment has already paid for itself in my eyes.
(I also own 15 BluRay movies - so I guess I sorta helped the format w...
And time for BR to implement a FINAL profile, something that HD-DVD had a looong time ago.
I had a RROD about 5 months ago, got a new one back, and all of my stuff plays just fine (games, couple TV shows, some videos, etc). I've never once had an issue. I'm always connected to Live, though, so maybe that's it.
The disagree monster is out. Someone disagreed with me saying that I rent HD-DVD's from Blockbuster online and my blu-rays from the store.
Funny!
You can rent Hd-DVD's from Blockbuster online, actually. I get my BluRays in store at BB, and then rent all of my HD's from them online.
Not that bad of wait times, usually.
Okay, so I have no idea if this is a real story or just a gimmick, but the one thing that gets me is this:
From the article: Plus, I have contacted every single attorney who has filed a lawsuit against MS and offered to help. Some have accepted, and that work is in progress. We'll talk about that in another post.
I SERIOUSLY doubt that if there is "work in progress" with any lawsuits, that this person is able and willing to speak about them. I'm a little...
Reading the comments, looks like these were all available on BR prior to Paramount going to Hd-DVD. But, that wouldn't explain the "release dates" being listed. However, my question is - perhaps the distributor in Europe is different than in the states.
Studio Canal released many HD-DVD's over in Europe that are BR only in the states. Perhaps it also goes the other way?
I'm not so sure about that. I, for one, am an avid gamer. (just ask my girlfriend). Owning the Wii, Xbox 360 w/HD-DVD addon and the ps3, I literally have had to stop buying games so I could play what I already own!
Having said that - I own about 6 Hd-DVD's and 7 Blu-Ray movies. I also own about 19 360 games.
I currently only own two ps3 games. I really REALLY wish Sony would focus the ps3 effort on games - not on the format war. Although, in their eyes, I'm sur...
you seem to like "iffy" sources when they support your viewpoints.
I would say that Nintendo takes the cake in first-party support. It just seems that way, maybe, with how many "nintendogs" and whatever they come out with each month.
Same price as when I bought my 360. But in reality, PSN has left me wanting more out of it. XBL just seems more robust and maintained. I often find few to any matches sometimes with PSN. Don't seem to have the same problem with XBL.
I'm just waiting for the day when XBL goes free, or PSN becomes better than XBL.
I also have the add-on as well as a ps3. I'll be enjoying my HD-DVD's until the drive craps out. Considering that I own about 7 movies, and rented a whole HECK of a lot more over the last year or so, I feel as though I got my money's worth.
I can see how it is easy to become emotionally invested in a LOCAL sports team (or just one you grew up with loving). For me, the Cubs were always on TV, and my dad and I grew up watching them even though I live in KC. See that? It's got emotional investment - that's a key.
Outside of monetary investment, I am in no other way attached to any console.
I am just intrigued by the fervor and voracity of the emotional attachment people have with their video games - t...
People just have to defend their choice so they can feel good inside. I really find it hard to believe that people can be so in love with a gadget that they openly root for it and want it to "crush" everything else.
That's like me saying "OH MY GAWD GARMIN IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN TOM TOM. NUVI FTW!!!" See how silly that is? It's just a freakin' GPS system.
I laugh at most of the, though. I'm fortunate enough to have all three, along with the HD...
For me, the 40GB is perfect. I never owned a ps2, and don't want to play ps2 games. I want ps3 games, which is the reason I bought the dang thing in the first place.
I don't need the card readers, and I don't need the 4 USB ports. The 40gb is perfect as it's done away with the stuff I don't need!
It won't take an entire HDD to store a downloaded HD movie.
Look at the movies over XBL. HD, 5.1 surround and coming in at a few gigs or so.
Yes, the quality on Blu-Ray/HD-DVD will be better, but not significantly enough to matter to lots of people. To me the XBL movies look like cable HD broadcasts, and I can live with that.
I literally do not know a single person that has a ps3. I am the only one of my friends (in real life) that own one. So, my ps3 friends list is pretty abysmal. (meaning zero friends)
My xbox360 has about 15 friends on it. 15 people I know in real life, that I play with on a constant basis.
To me, the $50/year to play online with those friends is worth the cost.
