@abzdiine : I think it's because there aren't that many commercial engines out there that push themselves as engines rather than games. Being a commercial engine rather than a game means that they can-- really, that they have to-- spend resources showing how pretty the engine can be with no resources dedicated to gameplay. (And by this, I note that above and beyond Unreal's own demos, Koola has an Unreal grant to make his architectural visualizations.)

Edit: Also...

There are still cutscenes in MGS5. Absolutely there are. I'm going to guess that they're saying there's no 90 minute Meryl-Johnny-wedding-for-the-s ake-of-it scene going on. Ugh, that was just so long and pointless...

Explain it? Ha! The company doesn't even explain what's going on internally. Everyone works on rumors and gets concrete info from the media. It's complete bullshit.

All you people who disagreed without commenting? Okay. You're right.

There's a nation of undead gamers with PTSD who can't tell when murder is involved in a game, and if we helped protect rape victims, we'd have to protect the undead too by putting that there was death on the box. (Or, I guess the alternative reading is that rape victims don't really exist. It's a feminist plot to emasculate men and damage your games, which women shouldn't be playi...

Murder isn't better, but few victims of murder are out there playing video games, you know? Plus, people know going in that there's going to be guns and explosions and killing. People with PTSD can avoid it if they need to avoid all explosions or images of death. On the other hand, a rape victim who doesn't know about a rape scene might not realize s/he needs to avoid this game to avoid triggering an episode.

I think GTA should be able to have rape in it if the de...

It was down, what, one day longer than Xbox Live? Where are the people asking aout if MS's gift of zilch is enough? Seriously, maybe they shouldn't have given people anything.

It's an effed up premise for a game, and it hurts some people's feelings. It's not going to be banned based on that, nor should it be, but it's still really gross and probably shouldn't have been brought back.

Unfortunately, third parties probably are going to assume it's the WiiU rather than the crappy game that was Watchdogs. I sold mine the week after I got it. So bland, so not what I wanted. A bad GTA clone with an extra minigame mechanic that didn't work very well...

You know, there's something sad when the rumor is "ACU's framerate is atrocious" and the rumor meter has "hopefully" as the positive. The YouTube video of it is pretty damning. Ouch...

The author seems kind of upset that people who play 50 hours can do what he did in 100. If they're expecting gamers will put in 50 hours, can it really be such a bad game? It's a bit of an odd thing to say-- if people will enjoy it enough for 50 hours of gameplay, doesn't that mean it's a good game? If I don't enjoy a game, I usually don't put in more than a few hours. Do most people play bad games for that long?

I kind of liked in Ground Zeroes that you didn't have the convenience of the fulton system-- that you had to drag everyone over to the helicopter if you want to get them out. But I think gameplay would be negatively affected in the larger areas that TPP is showing, so fulton is a much better choice.

I really don't think Hayter will be showing up. He was very upset about the whole thing, and he still comes across as upset when people ask him about it. I'd like him to show up, because I don't like Sutherland's voice as much as Hayter's voice (Hayter's voice is the sex, Sutherland's is just generic, IMO), but the theories that they're changing it because it's Big Boss just don't hold water. GZ wasn't long after PW, which had Hayter's voice. De...

What's he supposed to do when people ask him about it, though (as the original article did)? No comment is a pretty crappy answer, and it'll still get spun into something.

Jimquisition as a self-proclaimed journalist fanboying it up? Yeeesh... Do you complain about Yahtzee/Zero Punctuation, too? After all, he came up with the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race silliness.

Thank god for Jim.

"...odious time consuming QC procedures..."

Passing quality control on consoles too hard for you? Make a buggy PC game instead! (I know, I know, #notallpcgames. Still, that's what this sounds like.)

Hm. That sounds like: "make a better game with some similar mechanics."

So, did pretty much everyone with a PS4 get into the alpha? I got an alpha from Amazon, although I hadn't ordered it or asked for alpha access-- which I hadn't done because I'm not a shooter fan. But this had enough non-shooter elements to make me interested, and now I think I will probably pick up the full game. Good job, Bungie.
