"British people at that time were, for the lack of a better word, bullies. They had power and they abused it."

Kind of like America's military has been for the second half of last century, and still is now? Where are all the games about killing Americans in Vietnam?

If we're only killing Americans in AC3, it's a business decision, I think. I do hope that it's not so one-sided like that though. I hope that it's the First Nations ...

"He wasn't that overpowered ... he still couldn't hold back a ship moving through land for more than a few seconds..."

Um... Is my sarcasm detector out, or did you mean that for real? Because... if holding back a 630-meter long battleship for any time at all isn't ridiculously overpowered...

I dunno, if I weren't well off, I'd notice a steady stream leaving my bank account when it started happening, not 6 months later. If it were an account I didn't use often, though, because I had lots of money and that one wasn't my main one and didn't have much in it, I'd be far more likely to forget about checking it for half a year.

How about playing as Matches Malone?

Maybe they'll try for someone who can sound like Cesar Romero. That was silver age, wasn't it?

Garbage is a bit much. I generally agree with your points. It's crap for Blizzard, but had it been any other company, it'd just have been another one of those lackluster common titles.

I suppose you can say it's a selfish way of thinking. But... men have the upper hand in games.

I work at a game company. I'm the only female engineer. Up until a year ago, there were three women at my company, and two were administrative. At this point, we have six-- out of around eighty people. None of our designers are female. I don't think there's anything intentional or evil about that, I don't think anyone's going around saying that women would m...

I disagree. I can talk about how female characters suck and how they make me feel without referencing men. You can talk about why male characters suck and how they make you feel without referencing women.

I generally identify more with the men in games, and I'm not a transexual, or a butchy girl; do you know how weird that is? I mean... the way people talk on here, women aren't allowed to have feelings about the female characters in games.

This is par...

That's not what I read here. Perhaps we are reading different articles?

Woman A thinks that women are portrayed badly in games. She starts a successful Kickstarter project.

Man B sees this, and creates a beat her up game because... well, I don't know. I can't see any context where this is ok, because he's using Woman A's actual real life picture.

Woman C plays the game, goes WTF, and complains because it's offensive. ...

Why not do your own project then? Why does Anita Sarkeesian have to do both?

She's talking about how disappointed she feels when she sees people who are supposed to represent her in games.

You can make something talking about how disappointed you feel when seeing people who are supposed to represent you in games, if that's how you feel.

Frankly, I'm not sure she'd be qualified to talk about how men feel when they see themsel...

No. They're not just frickin' games when you use someone's face and advocate beating her up. They're not just frickin' games when you're threatening someone on Twitter for thinking your game is scary.

I suppose we should have games where your face is on a "cut the d*** off" game, with your address posted on the side and forums full of angry people saying they'd like to do it for real? After all, it's just a game, right?

On the one hand, I agree with freedom of expression and artistic license in games. I don't think games like RapeLay should be banned, but they should get international condemnation, as RapeLay mostly did.

On the other, I think someone who's an artist is consciously making art when they're offending people. I don't think that's what games like RapeLay are attempting to do. They're not trying to make us uncomfortable and force us to face a reality, they&...

"And that refusal one is a giant middle finger to those who did not like ME3 original ending it seems."

Was it? I hated the original endings and I quite liked the refusal ending. Refusing was what my Shepard would have done. Yeah, she lost. S'okay, she knew she'd lost the moment the god-child appeared and told her he was going to let her choose how to destroy the ME relays. The other endings were just forcing her to participate in destroying everything, base...

They can look for attention however they want. Slut shaming is still NOT ok. If they want sex, what's the problem? Some women do, some women don't.

Me? I don't, and I don't want men to treat me like a sex object. But that doesn't make me a better person or a better gamer than a woman who wants that stuff.

Yeah. I could have done without calling them sluts. Couldn't we go with poseur or idiot or something a little less "omg! girls wanting sex is teh bads!" (which is what slut means).

Dear girls who feel the need to insult other girls as sluts, GTFO. We don't need you any more than we need the weirdos posing with game controllers.

"Let's get real people, who didn't foresee this happening even in the slightest?"

I didn't. It's Diablo 3. I played Diablo 2... damn, when I was 20. Sure, the servers were down sometimes, but hell, I could just play offline.

I don't follow the news on games like D3 since I know that nostalgia's going to make it a day 1 purchase, so I had no clue that they were screwing everyone like this.

I think there's room for both, don't you? I don't usually like artistic movies, but sometimes I feel like something that's more than just entertainment. I generally want to play entertaining games, but some games can go beyond fun. You're right about it mostly being an excuse (I think that's reason to get more artistic games out there-- I want there to be some that are art, and I don't feel there can be progress if we don't even try), but I think the gaming com...
