Well the difference this time around is that both machines are capable of doing at least 4K. So that staggering difference in this current generation won't be present this generation. Now if we are talking 8K, that is an entirely different conversation to be had.
Actually it hasn't, we forget, Sony is also rolling out a new controller with Haptic feedback, that some seem to forget about because some are so worried about 2TFs.
They posted a few good articles the last couple of days, but this one reminds of ol faithful, SMH.
If I am not mistaken, the variability as explained by Sony helps the system sustain the 10.3 TFs by pulling and pushing processing to other areas of the system. So if the GPU is taking a hit, the CPU steps in to help it process those issues without loss. At least that is how I understood it.
That is true but the part that people are confused on is the variable CPU and GPU. I understand what it means after I listened to Sony's presentation and it wasn't what I originally thought just from reading the articles on the web. Many people think the variable CPU and GPU will decrease the TF count and that is untrue. From the way it was explain the system will reduce the stressful situations that incurred during the PS4 Pro, the air plane noises, without loss of standard processin...
They are looking at the CUs as though its an indication of power. Listening to cerney and DF; people will learn TeraFlops isn't a true indicator of power. Plus most of the system design was inputted from devs and that is the key point that is being overlooked with the XsX having more power than the Ps5 argument.
The sad part is if people listen to what mark cerny said instead of going of of the spreadsheet. you will hear him state the decision for going this direction of the 36 CUs and the Processor Variability. When cerny stated the processor variability, it sort of had me worried for the XsX because it is locked. Will that present issues? Will the SMT help XsX in this regard?
I agree with that, being dissapointed about the power is fair. If you look into the system you can see the the power choice was made for a reason. Sony could simply clock their system higher and adjust a few things but the variable power choice was done for a reason.
The other thing I wanted to point out is that I do not expect developers to take advantage of either system for a while. So we won't see a true disparity until we are further in the generation and even then...
GTA5 is a great example of this. Last generation people bought the game twice to play on XBO and PS4.
I look at it like this, if it isn't in mass production it isn't late. This may be late to us based on the timing, but in most cases, companies have the prototype(s) ready before the patent is in place. It may also be the case that the patent office may have took a while to approve this revision before making it public, which happens all the time.
I honestly believe that this was a revision they made a while ago and it's just going public. I say that because the...
@Obscure_Observer
So because we have some curious new IPs from MS Studios, they are suddenly now on par with Sony Studios? Is that what you are saying?
Sony is always tight lipped about new IPs until the time comes to announce them but it doesn't exclude them from the picture, meaning that each studio Sony owns is working on something whether we know of it or not. To me MS has to create some type of buzz so they have to release something. Plus we do ...

What does the high momentum during the PS2 era have to do with the current era going into the next? IF you want to be logical in your full explanation please do.
The PS2 era going into the PS3 era has nothing to do with the PS4 era going into the PS5 era. Again, they literally have nothing to do with the other. I hate how some try to give logic to MS incompetence. Let's us be straight up MS f'uped this generation but in no way does...
These online polls can be rigged. Are we sure no malice was involved with this poll? I know some people would love to distort these polls to show what they believe everyone should favor. I myself wouldn't have chosen BC over those other features and there are many on here that think the same. Because of that, I call malice.
I honestly realized it when I noticed I wasn't just buying a console and games to get a perfect experienced. Meaning that I started caring about the TV type, resolution, refresh rate, aspect ratio, etc; as well as the surround sound system and all the rest of the items that go into that perfect experience. Then to some aspect, the games as well, like who designed it, who published the game, the look feel of the game, type of game, genre, etc. Then there is the time allotted to play that s...
You forgot one, inFamous 1 and 2
@RiPPn
I don't think you understand the difference between a business decision and arrogance. Let's say you owned a convenience store. A business decision would be, we don't break bills for change over $20. Arrogance would be, "we don't care if you shop at our store or not". Sony's business decisions that you consider arrogance is nothing but business decisions.
I wasn't trying to call out anything MS did in the past on ...
@RiPPn
That isn't arrogance those are business decisions. Arrogance is when you tell people to buy a previous generation console because people feel it is too expensive or don't want to deal with the criteria that you set for it. Your idea of arrogance is far fetched. Why didn't you mention MS doing the same thing last generation when Sony wanted to do cross play. Cross play is not the end all be all. Developers recently stated that cross play is not what its w...
surprised your getting agrees, because last I checked. RDR2 came out in 2018. It was also a good game, long but a good game.
@CaptainCook,
Didn't MS license that method?
Yes, very well written and so unbiased. Just gave the facts
