Epic said in the Geof interview the demo was played on a PS5 dev kit and not like their usual cinematic demos.
and global illumination IS ray tracing.
the last sequence is the big part of the demo. looking at the far end of the map in detail without the usual obscuring fog effects and then gliding towards it in fast speed is a new benchmark.

not on XboxSX no. but we have seen what next gen looks like on PS5, it's mindblowing.

In the real world the difference is PS5 can run this demo, the XBoxSX can't.
SX streams several gigabytes less. it just cant do the demo. Xbox is bottlenecked. your made up numbers don't exist on the console.

Yah I know that video. did you pay attention to when he said it depends on the mesh quality? didn't think so. the SX just isn't capable of doing this with high quality assets demonstrated in the PS5 demo.

all of them are talking about SSDs and the PS5 has a an SSD twice as fast as the XboxSX. so the PS5 will be over twice as capable in rendering features that depend on the SSD speed. the SX won't be able to handle the same 8K detailed assets used on the PS5 demo.
The GPU has hit he wall, Xbox wasted resources on that focus. But Sony figured it out how to reach a new standard in graphics by re-envisioning the whole rendering system for the PS5.
