It looks good, but not 70 dollars good. And that is coming from someone who counts the original as their favorite game of all time. I've already spent over 100 dollars between ps3 and ps4 versions and to get no discount whatsoever I will not be considering this until its in the bargain bin.

The original is one of, if not my favorite game of all time. I expected to be blown away with this remake, but honestly it looks like a mild upgrade. Some things like the clickers clearly look better. Other things like environmental textures almost seem muddied and downgraded. I'm more excited about the fluidity and physics of the remake than anything.

Honest question, is this 70 bucks for everyone? I have already bought the game twice on ps3 and ps4 and as much as...

It's pretty easy to make games look this good when there is next to no interaction. When you don't need to worry about physics, dynamic combat, or interactions that aren't scripted, you can focus a lot of effort on realistic graphics. Not criticizing, just pointing out how these games tend to look quite good compared to fully interactive games.

Super excited about this! Never played the original other than the trial of the remaster on ps4. I've heard great things, so this is one remaster that definitely deserves it! Graphics look great, but I'm more interested to see what they do with physics and the combat, as I feel like bringing those up to the level of the last 2 remakes is going to make the biggest impact.

Agreed. Because of all the bad reviews I waited until the end of last gen to buy it, but was really surprised. The only knocks against it were length and linearity. Really loved the visuals, atmosphere, story, and characters. The gunplay was actually really well done with unique and fun weapons.

You mentioned the photo mode, and this was one of the best examples I have seen. They actually allow you to add filters and modify the visuals in the photo mode, and then appl...

The problem with chicago or Miami again are the lack of scenic areas. It just isn't that enjoyable to explore flat areas. A lot of the fun things to do in gtav involved driving through the mountains, mountain biking, jumping off cliffs etc. I would hate to lose that verticality and the natural beauty of mountains and hills in the sequel.

Agree with everything except the first point. If they open up the climbing more I think the axe makes sense, but I would love some actual skill involved in the climbing to make it more like platforming where you could actually fail.

As for the bow, I just prefer bows in games over firearms, especially since it allows for stealth ranged combat. I think a bow or at least a crossbow makes sense for the series. I like having dual pistols as an option though for sure, and co...

Yep. This series has been worshipped for the last 10 years, but really hasn't changed much at all. Time to finally start holding these devs accountable for lack of improvements or innovation. Maybe they will actually put some effort in next year and win myself and many other fans back.

Agree to disagree. I preferred rise over shadow in every aspect, although I feel like combat was the only aspect that took a major step back. Shadow still felt pretty good when it came to exploration and puzzles. I just personally prefer the sense or exploration that comes from more open areas.

That being said, I would love for them to go for a less guided approach in the next game. Use something akin to elden ring where you are in a large open world, but use Landmark...

I agree with most of the 10 points. They really need to work on combat though. Although it shouldn't be the main point of these games, they really took a step back with Shadow. The shooting felt horrible and clunky. Enemies didn't even react to being shot. They just took a few bullets (with jo blood) and then laid down and went to sleep. It felt terrible. It just felt weird for a game series that was so hell bent on showing the main character impaled, crushed, cut and bleeding,...

News just got even better when i saw they were using their own proprietary engine and making it next gen only. Can't wait! I just hope it isn't a few years out!

Yep, as a huge fan in the past, the show has gotten stale recently. Being the only real baseball game in town has led to next to no improvements, and they are still working with a higher resolution ps3 era game engine. until baseball fans stop purchasing these roster updates year after year, this is what we can expect.

I know graphics aren't everything, but the show is really lacking on ps5. Baseball should be the easiest of the major sports to make look photo real. ...

Agree. When days gone was released it was definitely in the top 5 best looking open world games out there. Some of the best foliage and high res ground cover combined with excellent lod scaling made it look great without a ton of pop in. When you add in the hordes with nearly 1000 enemies moving on screen and dismembered bodies that don't instantly disappear like most games, and you have a pretty impressive technical feat.

Interested but keeping expectations low. I loved the originals, but I don't think that style of game would go over well nowadays. I thought the reboots were good with Rise being the best and shadow taking a step backwards in almost every area.

What I would love to see is an open world like elden ring. Something like having Lara crash land in a foreign land with no direction and you have to actually explore and use your skills and surroundings to survive. No way poin...

It's odd that the reviewer seems to love the game and didn't seem to have single negative thing to say about it, yet only scored it an 8. 8's not a bad score or anything but if you claim to love a game, there should be some justification why 2 points were docked.

Personally I used to love the show but haven't purchased one in almost 5 years. Without a new engine or any kind of drastic update, it just looks and feels like the same game every year and isn...

So does this mean they are getting rid of the axe throw and replacing it with something else? Not sure what would be akin to it without replacing it or becoming redundant.

Personally I would love to see this game go back to the gory roots of the originals. The last game was great, but this is god of war, I wanna some blood and guts and severed limbs. And how about bodies that don't disappear the second you kill them? Seeing a battlefield littered with the corpses o...

I agree about the frustration. I ended up turning on the easy loot option to get all components from each machine when downed. To keep it from making things too easy, I bumped the difficulty up a notch. This seemed to keep the game challenging while also lowering the frustration and grind to get components.

Yeah was honestly surprised how good the side quests are in this. I actually preferred them to a lot of the main quests. I can think of at least 5 that had a major impact on the world around you. Whether it was determining which characters live or die or changing the land around you they did an excellent job here!

I think it will launch before then. Since they don't seem to have any interest in single player games anymore, it shouldn't take that long to recycle the gta online assets into a new location to start the milking process over. Why spend the time and effort to make a huge epic single player game when people wanna throw billions of dollars at them in exchange for a new outfit?

There are good and bad aspects of companies using proprietary engines. I do tend to like the variety of visual styles and unique innovations that come from companies using their own engines. That being said, a lot of issues with proprietary engines have been ironed out in engines like UE. The Red engine was great for the witcher, but from what I can recall had a lot of issues early on that may have been ironed out with an off the shelf software. It also looked good on CP2077, but also ha...
