What's wrong with the 720? I read somewhere that the main reason to call their current system the 360 was so that consumers wouldn't think it's a lesser system than the PS3. Basically, well this is a PS3 and that's an Xbox 2 so the PS3 must be more powerful. Not sure anyone is that simple but this is how they see the consumer.
So with that same line of thinking they're likely to go with 720. Guess they figure the consumer will think it's twice as powe...
Seem like some pretty inconsequential changes imo. Sony and MS are doing everything to get these sytems down to the lowest cost possible as that's when a console really starts to take off in terms of sales and when software sales increase. Going to make it all the harder for the Wii U to do well when both Sony and MS are selling their consoles for 199.99 or less. And who said the console war was over?
I disagree, gaffyh. A console/handheld manufacturer makes its money on software. If the software is all being pirated at the levels PSP software is being pirated then 3rd parties can't make money on the device and the money made on sales of the device itself (if any) isn't substantial enough to continue to support the system. So while a bump in hardware sales may occur due to persons looking to exploit the piracy buying the system, this isn't exactly sustainable income for the man...
I thought it was "left to die" because piracy was rampant on the system.
I thought the Dom storyline was okay. I don't go into games like Gears or Killzone 3 or Modern Warfare expecting a good story, I just want good action scenes and cool new ways to kill enemies. The whole Dom's wife thing was a little "ham handed" so to speak, but it's like expecting a compelling story out of a Michael Bay Transformers movie: if you get one it's a bonus but if you don't you still got to see Transformers fighting...which is why you went to see the m...
There have been a lot of common sense or "well duh" articles about BF3 lately.
BF3 won't be in 60fps,
Console versions won't look as good as the PC version,
BF3 will have store specific dlc,
and now BF3 is not Modern Warfare. Maybe I should start a site and write an article. "BF3 won't have kill streaks but does have vehicles."
Much props to him, but lets not call what he does journalism. Maybe reporting. I may be engaging in semantics but a journalist, imo, is someone that at least went to J school. Someone that's just reporting the news is a reporter. Diminishes the people that put in the work and got the piece of paper to put someone that didn't in their category.
Just started using my PSP fat again and man did I forget how awesome it is. I'm def considering a Vita but it depends on whether it supports UMDs (not sure if that's been confirmed either way yet). Not because I have such a big library of UMDs but because those things are dirt cheap on Amazon and Ebay and I have like 3 years of games to take advantage of. If no UMD support then I'll stick with my PSP and wait on the Vita to drop in price.
I wouldn't mind a little "99 problems" on a Twisted Metal stage. "Kingdom Come" would be hot. Maybe a little "Public Service Announcement" during the menus...I dunno...has some potential to me. Guy was probably looking for attention and he got it. Rather the re-publish these sorts of things I think we should just add it to the ignore bin.
He also said this: "I love talking directly to gamers, but too many troll journalists out there so think I’ll have to shut up about #bf3 details for now, bye."
Couldn't agree more with that. We have way too many troll journalists looking for hits. Even last week when that PR firm made the statements about some people being malicious in their reviews of DKF which, for some reason, prompted all game reviewers to act as if he was talking about them directly. If you...
There are a ton of games that run in 720p that look gorgeous. Until the next wave of consoles this is what we're going to have to deal with...and it's not such a bad tradeoff.
I'm beginning to feel like how a non-hockey fan in Vancouver must have felt following the recent riots. Guys, I don't get why so many of you are outraged over this game. Every story to come out about this game thus far have resulted in nerd rage and I don't get it.
1) Pre-order exclusives. No biggie to me but you would've thought BF3 said no DLC for a console.
2) Live-footage of the PS3 version not looking as good as the PC version. Seriously, who expected it...
Call me crazy, but seeing Uncharted 3 and last night's Battlefield demo running on the PS3 has me convinced these consoles could last another 3 years....and I'm fine with that. As much as I'd like to have games that look like that Unreal demo Epic released a few months ago, I'm in no rush to spend another thousand or so dollars to buy two new consoles, games, etc.
Well, I thought it looked awesome. It's off-screen footage guys so you gotta take that into consideration. The animations looked great and the drop-off from the PC version is to be expected (again, why do some of you feel the need to state it doesn't look as good as the PC version is beyond me), but it's still a very pretty game. Definite day one purchase for me.
Reminds me of a bit some comic did about the confusion in selecting an over the counter drug. "Do I want fast acting, or long lasting?" "Do I need extra-strength, or do I want maximum strength...which one has more strength?"
Demo for Far Cry 3 was really intriguing...lots of good games coming out this year.
Is this for all the games or a select few? I'm getting ready to go on vacation later this summer and was going to pick up some psp games for the trip. This deal would really be perfect timing.
Excited to see what the console footage will look like. Hoping they make this segment available on Hulu.
Wow. Really strong piece. I encourage you guys to actually read what he wrote (it's like maybe three paragraphs) rather than getting caught up in the whole comment section back and forth.
Regardless of how you feel about the guy, you gotta respect someone that leaves a job that person is comfortable and familiar with to pursue their dream.
God speed, Hill.
Something not cheesy. I like behind the scenes videos of how the game came together with interviews with the staff. I like artbooks that show the initial concept art and where they were going.
A signed graphic novel by some of the devs that's numbered would be cool. And exclusive in-game content (suits, powers, custom skins, etc) are always cool. Heck, the remote controlled car for Black Ops was great.
It's the giant batarangs or the Halo cat helmet...
Plus is a great deal imo. I just hate that different regions get different stuff. I was p!ssed when EU got all the Fallout 3 dlc and North America didn't. Still, I can justify paying an optional fee for 49 free games over the course of a year.
