And don't forget the extra priority levels available on the ps5 ssd. Users are unpredictable and you may need to switch what you were preloading because of user actions. That's why you need higher speed to match the performance you get with sonys ssd
This is the same company that charges you $700 for a set of fucking wheels

The last time I gave Apple any money was for an Apple ][, and that will be the last time
Hololens was never going to live up to the hype. I've used them quite a bit when I was working in VR and they are interesting, but getting a clear consistent image in AR glasses is probably impossible. The only way is to design it like a vr headset but with a camera so you can overlay on top of the captured video stream.
But the total purchase price could have funded hundreds of AAA games
I disagree, Xbox users don't deserve better. Microsoft has a long track record of underwhelming releases and broken promises. Any sensible person would have bailed on them long ago.
the pandemic is only a small part of the problem. The problem stems from over a decade of free money. Those stupidly low interest rates should have started climbing back to normal long ago. But by keeping the rates low governments around the world have fueled an asset bubble like we've never seen before. It could get really ugly.
Yup, I remember going to the mall with a pocket full of quarters to play pong, followed by all the other black and white games like asteroids, lunar lander etc.
Now that my kids are grown up I have more free time than ever. But I'm playing just fine without any special accommodations, I still play on harder difficulties in most games and haven't noticed any drop in performance despite being nearly 60 years old.
If they were any good at that then they wouldn't have gone out and tried to buy giant publishers
It's the discrepancy between what you are seeing and feeling and what your brain expects to be seeing and feeling that causes issues in VR. That's why latency is a killer. if you turn your head and the image lags behind it messes you up.
Charging to post things to your social media platform shows he hasn't a clue what he is doing. Twitter benefits from more activity so it is incredibly stupid to unnecessarily restrict such activity.
When the working environment turns to crap, it's mainly the better staff that leave first as it's easier for them to find another job
@edeprez
Most markets eventually consolidate around 2 or 3 major players. The problem here is that the market is distorted by Microsoft using other revenue to subsidize money-losing business decisions that undermine the competition. That's bad for the industry in the long term
The irony is that for what they are willing to spend on this aquisition they could have funded 300-500 AAA games.
@IRetrouk
They don't need to ask every PlayStation owner to get an accurate number, but they do have to be careful about how the survey respondents are chosen. For example if they disproportionately ask players that don't buy COD then the number will be much lower than it should be.
it's the same approach that movie studios use, most movies barely break even, but then they get the blockbuster that makes up for all the flops
Since they don't get actual games on Xbox they have to survive on promises of games at some time in the future that is yet to be determined, unless they get canceled first.
That's not entirely true. if you had enough subscribers then you could support releasing quite a few AAA games on day 1. But they will never reach enough subscribers to make it work, there just aren't enough people interested in subscribing.
Some xbox sales were certainly because of the lack of availability of the PS5, so it's not surprising that once the PS5 became more readily available that their sales would move in opposite directions.
PCs are inherently less efficient in both their hardware and software, there is no getting around that so long as you want modular, general purpose hardware and a general purpose OS with endless layers of abstraction.
60 fps is overrated. the difference between 60 fps and 30 is 16.7ms , your reaction time is more than 10x that. It's just not that important no matter how much you try to convince yourself
