I'm hearing reports that the party system "may take up to a year" to fully fix. This is coming from the same guy who leaked the news that Call of Duty: Ghosts/Battlefield 4 runs at 720p on Xbox One, and that the XBL/party system was a "mess" several months ago.

You must have eagle vision to be able to discern jaggies from a 1080p image supersampled down to a 720p Youtube video.

I wonder why there isn't a confirmation of the resolution on Xbox One?

If only there were a way to filter out those little kids by age from your online games.

You don't think that a closed-architecture APU with a unified memory pool (things you don't see in gaming PCs), a low-level API, and plenty of extra capacity for Compute to further enhance performance, doesn't have plenty of untapped potential?

The PS4 isn't strictly a PC in its architecture, no matter how much you wish it to be the case. Just because the CPU is x86-based, doesn't make it a PC.

Btw, if you actually had any knowledge of pas...

Context.

It sounds like these two guys know each other pretty well, and are used to using harsh language against each other in sometimes serious (and sometimes not so serious) ways. Judging by the conversation, they appeared to have a pretty good repartee going; a good old fashioned "f*** you" isn't out of the realm of what you would say to one of your friends if you were having a debate about something.

@InTheZoneAC: I think you're deluding yourself a bit. The technology in the PS3 and 360 are EXTREMELY archaic in the year 2013. This fact is indisputable. 512MB of total RAM, and 7800GTX-level GPU? These specs are absolutely LAUGHABLE. Sure, consoles are capable of heavy optimization and various coding tricks to maximize the graphics output you can possibly get from this incredibly creaky last-gen hardware, but there's only so much you can do given a set of hardware limits.

I'll take a 6-year cycle. 5-year cycle would be even better.

That way, we get more frequent hardware upgrades, and the consoles won't be hobbling toward the finish line on arthritic ankles like they were at the 7th-8th year mark with the PS3 and 360. This past generation has been the longest generation of consoles I've seen, and I hope that doesn't become a trend.

I'm thankful to be in the position to afford the luxury of playing some of these great new games and hardware that are coming out.

Here's to another 5+ years of great gaming experiences!

He's probably just talking about Microsoft's development tools being more Windows-like, and therefore is a more familiar environment for former PC developers. Sony's toolset is probably somewhat different, and requires them to learn the software.

The real issue and flaw that everyone is overlooking about the Xbox One is the Edge Sharpening filter that's seemingly built INTO THE SCALER.

If that hideous Edge Enhancement effect really is built into the hardware scaler, and is non-defeatable, then Xbox One owners are fucked. Not a single home theater enthusiast or HDTV expert out there actually likes artificial edge enhancement, let alone one that you can't even turn off.

This ugly effect could po...

So parties and VOIP really are borked on the Xbone? I heard about something like this a little while ago on NeoGAG.

PS+ is a far better value than Xbox Live, due to it being cheaper, and offering much more in the way of discounts and free stuff/games. PSN (on PS4) has basically every networking feature and functionality that XBL currently has.

The only thing you could possibly argue in favor for XBL's service is that it *supposedly* utilizes a much larger infrastructure of cloud servers, which *may* aid in greater stability, connectivity, and download speeds overall. Whether or not the...

I'll definitely jump on another year's extension at $29.99.

This game doesn't look all that demanding or graphically intensive to begin with, so it may not be the best basis for comparing power. Also, the jump from 900p to 1080p doesn't seem as major as going from the last-gen 720p.

Call of Duty: Ghosts being 720p on one console, and 1080p on the other--now THAT'S a hugely noticeable difference:

That's not even including ad revenue from MS. God knows how much that amounts to.

And of course Polygon gives this game one of the highest scores out of any of the gaming sites out there.
