but i'm a content whore. i have a 360 elite (120gb hd that has about 30gb left on it) and i upgraded my ps3 60gb hd to a 320gb.
i wasn't too thrilled about the idea of ads either, but it's a digital magazine, just like any other magazine with ads. when i saw them i felt better about it since all but one of them (so far) are game related and they each only last 15 seconds (and if they're longer, you can skip after 15 sec) hardly an inconvenience in my opinion.
i wasn't going to buy a 360 at all with my options being a 20gb hd or no hd. the marketplace is a big draw on the console (for me anyway) with all the games and stuff to download and a 20gb hd only option just never made any sense to me. once the elite came out i was there.
how many times do we have to see these speculations now? every couple of months rumors on all the systems surface... ps3 slim, ps3 120Gb, 360 slim, 720 1TB HD?!?!? it's a wish list, nothing more.
it's all just people sitting around making up a wish list of cool things they'd like to see done, attach the word rumor to it and see the website traffic grow.

i had 2.40 and saw this show up on a new friend's card after i played him in warhawk. it's not always there, appears to be only after you play someone multiplayer online...
i got mine soon after the elite came out. i wasn't interested in actually purchasing a 360 until the elite came out (for the bigger hard drive) and so far i haven't had any problems with it.
resistance became a whole new game. i had already finished it then went back with my dualshock (play-asia import last winter) and it was such a different experience.
going forward all games will support it and quite a few already released have been patched. buy it as a second controller or (like i did) sell your original controller(s) and buy a dualshock or two to replace them.
I've been gaming since the atari 2600 and through the 90's i would usually gravitate towards the harder settings. problem is, i buy a lot of games and i found that i would rarely complete any of them. it would usually go like this: start the game on hard, play for a few hours/days hit a point that was exceedingly frustrating, put the game down and move on to the next one that just came out... never look back.
once i got my ps3/360/wii combo, i started playing on easy to normal ...
just maybe it has to do with the fact that Led Zeppelin ripped off a number of artists when 'creating' their music. And before you all jump on me, do some research. your external HD needs to be formatted FAT32 for the ps3 to recognize it. just reformat your drive or borrow one, it's entirely worth it.
i went from a 60Gb at launch to 160Gb two months later to 320Gb about a month and a half ago (i have a sickness obviously)
the process is pretty painless and worth the effort. just be careful with the HD screws. you need the right size screwdriver because they're very easy to strip.
it would actually be a problem on the 360 since they don't all have a hard drive.
my honest answer, i'd have no problem with mandatory installs on the 360. this is just me because of my situation. i bought s 60Gb PS3 at launch and two months later upgraded the hard drive to 160Gb (i've since bumped that to 320Gb). when i bought my 360 a year ago, it was because the elite had just recently come out. i had been interested in playing the halo games, gears, bioshock and the xbla ...
yeah, the fact that there was an ad there was annoying when i turn on my 360 for the first time. i figured that this was subsidizing the silver 'free' membership. when i paid for gold membership, i figured they'd be gone. sadly, no.
that bothers me but i think what really bugs me more is how big they are. they take up a pretty sizable chunk of real estate on the screen. look at what you can actually click on with any given blade, it's just a big waste of space.

i'm happy to pay for DLC... when it's worth it. things like this however are just a straight rip off and a bit of an insult to dedicated fans.
firmware updates bring goodness unto the console world and we love them all.
i've done it from work. that's assuming you have the discs still. just pop it into your ps3 and you can remote play any ps1 game in the drive.
i find pixel junk monsters near impossible to remote play. everything becomes waaaaay too small on the psp screen.
i love the game and was very excited at the prospect but i miss half the coins and have trouble getting to the exact tree where i want to make towers when i try to play that way.
streams with no problems to my ps3 and 360. all my music, photos and video available on everything... sweeeeet.
