He may not be a monthly forecasting guru and let's face it no one is but on predictions like this and other predictions about industry trends he's often bang on. He's bang on this time as well, 360 sales have died off and then need to do something to shore them up. If you don't think Microsoft has been having the same discussions for almost a year now that they've been in 3rd place in worldwide sales you're just kidding yourself. MS is in this for the money. If they can't turn their Games...

"can something be considered overrated if a constant 800,000+ ppl play it over and over again?"
Absolutely. Your Halo 3 example is perfect because anyone who played Halo 3 knows that it was overrated, that it was just a bit shinier than Halo 2 and was a good game but not nearly deserving of the perfect scores thrown it's way. Yes, Halo 3 took back it's XBL crown from COD4, but what about the people enjoying COD4 on the PS3, Mac, PC as well as the 360? I'm pretty sure those ...

Just like they looked in the game, like the good folks at Fisher Price designed them. Ok, was it just me or do others hate the Covenant weapons? I always have. The Elite Sword kicks ass, but everything else was pretty underwhelming to me. I, for one, want my alien weapons evil, not looking like they belong in a 5 year olds room.

I also owned both until recently but opted to cancel my XBL gold and downgrade to Silver and game online exclusively on the PSN. I keep hearing that XBL is still ahead, but as a user of both I don't see how. I've been using only PSN for about 6 months now and I haven't regretted this decision once. The only thing I do regret is that it didn't come along sooner. I've been paying XBL fees for almost 6 years now. It took them awhile but the PSN is in fine form.

...Rage is going to look worse on the 360 vs the PS3 due to size constraints and compression related to using DVD, the whole reason we're currently having this conversation, but according to this article this isn't going to happen and won't have an impact on the 360 or it's games. Isn't the whole reason we're discussing this because it is happening, and is having an impact. Does this author really, truly believe this is the only time this will happen? Dude...

Of course it went to the 360 for the money. We're not stupid. Square didn't just spontaneously decide it'd be fun to port it over to the 360. Either MS paid them to do it or, like this guy said, they did it because of "the success of our (360) console". IE MONEY, they can simply make more money with a multiplatform game. End of storey.

Of course PS3 owners are excited about this. Bioshock was an amazing game - and now here it comes, enhanced, more modes, shinier. For anyone that missed out this is a must play game! I beat this game on my 360 (although it did cause a rrod. It must be harder on the hardware) and still I'm probably going to pick it up on the PS3 to play through again. I traded my 360 copy in after my first play thru and have regretted it ever since.

This point is bang on. I'm on my 4th 360 console, 2 rrod and one horrible disk scratching unit. I've been without a 360 approx 2.5-3 months since launch and I don't have faith in the last unit they shipped me because according to the info on the back it's an older unit than the one it replaced. And this is the problem, at least in Canada. If you ship MS a bad 360, they ship you back another bad 360 that someone else returned. Stop sending me refurbed units, suck it up and ship me a new u...

I made the switch from XBL gold to PSN last fall and haven't looked back. I've had almost zero lag playing on PSN, I love that themes are free, the games are fantastic (plus full games!), I love that the PSN is free and with over 10 million subscribers I haven't had any problem finding enough people to game with. The only thing I can think that's missing is cross game chat and I didn't use that once on the 360. If I ever needed to I could use my phone, and that right there just saved me $3...

A fool and his money are soon parted? Seriously, you put down money to reserve a game and then never pick it up or forget where you reserved it, I don't have a hell of a lot of sympathy for you.

The developers have already complained that if they were making the title only on the PS3 vs both the PS3 and 360 they could have "twice the activity" on the screen. Perhaps Sony should pick this up, take it exclusive and say "Ok. Show us what you've got."
And to the dude claiming they couldn't do this because of the installed user base. The PS3 has sold almost 6 million consoles this year and sits at approx 14.5 million units total. By the time this game comes ...

On Demand Video has been around for years and it hasn't replaced physical media yet. Why on earth do you think people are suddenly going to stop buying movies? And currently (and for the foreseeable future) there just isn't the bandwidth available for everyone to suddenly switch to some sort of digital on demand service. Half of North American still doesn't even have internet.
No, digital downloads aren't going to replace physical media anytime soon.

Indeed, we don't quite know yet what the 360 is capable of but we do know that so far it seemed to have peaked with Gears of War back in 2006. That's almost 2 years now and nothing's topped it yet. What gives? You would think with all that time the developers would be continuing to push the envelope.

They mention at the end that sony offers a "basic online service" for free.
Where the hell have they been? There's nothing "basic" about the PSN currently, although they do have the "free" part correct. I switched my Gold XBL to Silver last fall and game on the PSN now and haven't regretted the switch once. And PSN has been constantly improving since then.

Microsoft has already openly mused about the prospect of the 360's replacement not competing on a hardware level. So although the tech described in the article might be readily available it doesn't mean anything if Microsoft chooses not to use it and instead follows the Wii's "Less is more" approach, making a cheap, not overly powerful console that will serve as a digital distribution hub rather than a balls out top of the line games console. I think given the likelihood that MS g...

I was impressed by Sony's showing at E3. There were numerous must-have games coming this year and next. And the 360's big release was....wait? A game that was already announced on the PS3? The 360's big gun at E3 was that Final Fantasy was going multiconsole? Seriously, if the best you can come up with is a game previously announced on a another console you need to take a step back and rethink your business strategy.
That being said, I can't wait for Fable 2 and Gears 2. I haven'...

...as a culture they aren't crazy. They work hard for their money and won't spend it on a console with a one in three chance of being defective. Seriously, I own one but at least when I bought it I wasn't aware of the defects. I'm on Xbox 360 number 4 now, and I don't care that MS fixes it for free now (although I had to pay $170 twice, and then had to fight for a refund both times) had I known the headache the system would be I would have skipped it and just waited for a PS3. Sure it's h...

Seriously, the 360's tenuous hold to second place is about 5.5 million worldwide, less than what they sold in their first year with no next-gen competition. The PS3 outsold the 360 by 1.4 million consoles from Jan 08 till the end of June. You do the math. If everything were to stay the same and Sony's momentum doesn't continue to pick up steam the 360's lead is gone at this rate in early 2010. If momentum does continue the PS3 will overtake the 360 next year sometime. Sony is gunning for...

I agree with this article. The PS3 still has a long life ahead of it and so far it's survived GTA and Devil May Cry going multiplatform and still is selling far faster than the 360 ever did. Final Fantasy going multiplatform certainly isn't going to hamper my enjoyment of the game.
