Perhaps we should wait till it's actually released and revisit this. I could just as easily say Alan Wake is an epic failure...but I wouldn't because it hasn't actually come out yet.

Almost at a million in only a couple of weeks, for a kid-friendly platformer? That's fantastic!

As for the claim that Sony overhyped this, I'm sorry, what now?
Reviewers and industry reps have been hyping this since they got their hands on it. Fanboys have been all over this. Sony...really no more so than any other game. I didn't see one TV ad for this, not one billboard, not one magazine ad..nothing. How did Sony hype this, exactly?
By contrast, I saw a tube...

Don't get me wrong. I've loved Fable 2. It's been fun but as I get close to the end of the game I find it's become quite a bit repetitive. There are still a few side quests left to do but I can't seem to bring myself to care at this point. This week I'll probably steam through the rest of the game just to finish it and trade it in. It's like GTA4 for me. It was fun, great game but by the end I was almost relieved to be done with it so I could move on to something else. On both of these...

You know what, when my 3rd 360 console died on me...I didn't for one second think "Oh well. 8 years ago the PS2 had some issues as well."
No, I thought "This sucks. This has been almost 4 months now I haven't been able to play the bulk of my games library. If I had any idea what a hassle this would be, I would have never, ever bought a 360."

Really, people who get hit with RROD don't care what the hell happened to the PS2 8 years ago. It has zer...

You'd be stupid not to be. Do you think Sony's all upset their low-end tv's sell better than their hi-end? Or their lower end cameras sell better than the top of the line stuff?
As for the fanboy comment, I'm a 360 fan. (DarkrideHex66 on XBL). I'm loving Fable 2 and Gears 2 to death right now. But only a moron would view the PS2's continued revenue stream as a bad thing while the PS3 is still selling faster than the 360 ever did (just look at how long it took the PS3 to hit 15 mill...

I've got a 20 GB launch console. With one Xbox original game installed, map packs for COD2, Oblivion's expansion pack I only have room for one games install on my unit - and right now that's Fable 2 at 6.8GB. I'm now left with about 500 mb, not even enough room to rent a movie on XBL without ditching something. And so far, I'm not positive but I don't think my Fable load times are any better.
Should I upgrade my harddrive? Hell no. Between the cost of my console, XBL, battery pack...

They might even break even on the 360 before it's all over. At this rate MS Games is making approx $400-500 million a fiscal quarter. With 3 billion is losses to make up based on MS's own fiscal numbers and if revenue still continues to grow at the same rate it has been, MS may be able to break even on the 360 in the next 3-4 years. However if they rush out the 360's replacement in 2-3 years as expected, those R&D costs will probably derail the whole thing. That's if there is a new Xb...

The official numbers conincide with the quarterly financials. I agree with the sentiment of your post, but you're missing the point. This is just PR spin before the holiday shopping season. You lost me when you said "the point still stands that MS is widening the gap in sales between PS3 and 360."
You're mistaken. The PS3 has sold approx 1.1 million consoles more than the 360 this year, both Sony and MS's last official shipped numbers proved that. MS didn't just suddenly...

Sales figures since last quarter show MS did not sell 3 million consoles since they last released their shipped data, so this 25 million logically must be factoring in what they're shipping to stores in preparation for the Holiday season. I'm sure if Sony felt like releasing these numbers, or Nintendo, we'd see the same thing..a huge spike in shipped numbers prior to the holidays.

Bladestar said they believe that only sony tells the truth and that Microsoft can illegally make up numbers in order to mislead their investors.... a company can't just lie to manipulate the stock price."

No one said MS was lying, this is just PR spin which the intelligent among us, those who have been paying attention, should have caught right away. There's no way that Microsoft sold 3 million consoles since they last reported their official ship numbers last quarter. T...

I mean, take a look at your game sales charts. Notice something in the top 10 that seems out of place to you? It's PS2 games, still hanging in the top of the charts worldwide. Have a look at sales for the new WWE game, it's selling better on the PS2 than the 360. It's still consistently holding it's own against all the newcomers. So, how on earth do you think that MS has taken that market share away from Sony? The PS2 is still selling, and still moving software. It's not like these sal...

More shows for XBL subscribers in Canada to NOT get. Seriously, XBL's video service up here is so gimped it's not even funny. Not only did it take over a year for us to have access to the service vs the states, but it remains to this day a pale shadow of what the US receives. No wonder the 360 has yet to catch on anywhere else but the US. And Netflix? Yeah, I'm not holding my breath for this one to grace my 360 anytime soon.

But these are most certainly shipped numbers. MS's own numbers just put them at 22 million at the end of last quarter, and they have not sold 3 million since then by any stretch of the imagination (the past two months since the price cut they've shipped around 800,000 consoles). Logic would dictate that if we're missing 2-3 million consoles to meet MS's number, the most obvious answer is they're counting units sent to stores for the start of the holiday season.

That's a bit of an overreaction, don't you think? The guy doesn't like the art style and thinks it's too far removed from the original. I don't care for the art style I've seen of this game either. "all the whining and hate towards a plastic box" How did you get whining and hate out of that? He's just giving his honest opinion. If anyone needs to grow up and not be so defensive about a "plastic box," I'd think you might need to take a hard look at yourself.

Seriously, what on earth does the PS2 have to do with anything? I owned a speak and spell as a kid that broke on me to. That also has nothing to do with the 360's failure rate.

My whole point is this is still an issue. Those that deny, or try to point the finger at the users or distract by talking about things they had break once upon a time doesn't change the fact that MS duped consumers by lying about the failure rate, not fixing the problem and then covering it up. As so...

I'm sick to death of people saying "You shouldn't have had 4 consoles die." You're damn right I shouldn't have had 4 consoles die. The problem is about MS replacing consoles that die with consoles that have been coaxed back to life. My console sits alone on a huge shelf in my unit. No electronics below, nothing on top. It has 6 inch clearance on the top, 8 inch at the back and 4 inches on either side. I'd have to say that's well ventilated. And I live in Canada! It's always ...

Come one. Gamespot! There are few bigger havens of 360 fans and biased reporting on the net then Gamespot and even they're reporting widespread NXE issues - with every single one of their editors having problems.

Personally, NXE worked great for me, but I have no doubt that if Gamespot is reporting freezing issues and rrod - the truth is probably that 360's are growing legs and running off with the first born. They always, always spin their articles to make it seem it's not ...

After 2 years of overpaying for XBL (they started charging me the monthly rate at $8 when my free month ran out and I didn't find out till later that is was cheaper for annual) I really didn't see the point paying to have homophobic, racist 12 year olds scream obscenities at me. If they port this to the PS3 I might give it a try, or I may give it a whirl on the PC at some point. Hopefully EA will make it happen like the rumors say. I don't know anyone on XBL. Not much point picking up a c...

If you have a quick look through metacritic - the majority of the multiplat games released are identical on both platforms and have been for over a year now. There are a handful of exceptions on both sides but the 360's fans assertion that "all multiplat's are better on the 360" certainly aren't backed up professional reviews. I had an exchange with one guy that insisted that all multiplats were inferior on the PS3 and for every one he mentioned that did have problems I was able t...
