I don't need articles to tell me how bad RROD is. I'm on my 4th 360 console. If anything, my experiences tell me it's a lot worse than these sites make it out to be. So far my 360's have had a 75% failure rate. I'm not some Sony fanboy...I'm a pissed off Xbox fan that just wants to be able to play his damned games without worrying "Oh, I've been playing for more than 45 minutes. Should I turn off my 360 now. Don't want another console dying on me." I don't want a 3 year godda...

MS covered up the problem and still hasn't come clean with how many this is happening to. Reports come out saying 15%, MS neither confirms nor denies it. Reports come out saying 33%, MS neither confirms nor denies. EA insider leaks that 50% of their launch consoles failed and suddenly both EA and MS spring into action, hush him up and deny, deny, deny. What does that tell you?
When I bought my 360 MS was saying the failure rate was right where it should be, everyone was making a bi...

Speak for yourself. Just because you don't have Herpes doesn't mean it's not an issue. You could still get it and then it'd be an issue, wouldn't it now?
As I've mentioned before, I'm a 34 year old professional that is on console number 4, and it sucks. The first rrod actually went smoothly and I was impressed with the way MS handled it. I stand here before you, 3 years after buying my 360 and say it wa...

So the problem is articles reporting the problem, not the underlying problem itself? And that people keep reporting a problem because it's still a problem? Yeah, how dare they.

If you don't like what's being reported, bury your head a little deeper into that sand.

I'd have to say the right thing would have been to fix the problem. I certainly wouldn't be so bitter towards MS if they had fixed my console when it RROD'd the first time, or send me a new console instead of shipping me refurb unit after refurb unit until I hit my 4th console and then just stopped playing on it in favor of a shiny, new PS3.

Really, MS was faced with fix the problem, don't fix the problem and have people turn their noses up at the 360 en masse or extend the ...

Ok. My gamertag is DarkrideHex66 and I declare with every fiber of my being that had I known and had Microsoft not conspired to coverup the failure rate of the 360 I would have never bought one.
I bought my console from launch - finished King Kong and COD2 - tried to get into Kameo and Perfect Dark but couldn't and ended up playing Joust for 6 months until s...

Dannagar said "The warranty is over for those that have had a working Xbox 360 for over 3 years. However, the warranty is 3 years from the time you've bought your system or 3 years from the time you received a repaired unit. No issues."

Oh, that's 100% incorrect. Your warranty does not, repeat, does not reset when they send you a refurbed unit. In fact, I had Microsoft ship me a unit to replace a RROD unit that I caught scratching the hell out of my disks a month late...

Each console that I had problems with was replaced by a refurbed console...different serial numbers, different manufactured dates. This is what happened up in Canada, I'm not sure about other places. I've heard of people just getting their own consoles back but that never happened to me. The last console they sent me was older than the one it replaced.

Anyway, gamertag DarkrideHex66.

I like the new update but it's disappointing that I can only install one game a...

Microsoft hasn't been exactly forthcoming about the extent of the RROD issue and I don't imagine we'll ever know the full scope - unless they're forced to disclose it through one of the court cases against them. All you'll ever have is reports from people that it's happened to - and you've obviously already convinced yourself that this is all overblown. Myself, I've had 3 consoles go on me but other than my testimony and my wife's testimony, only Microsoft can confirm what we say is true an...

I'm on my 4th 360 and the last one that they sent me was older than the unit it replaced. I have to say, I'm a little nervous. Mind you, every single time I boot up my 360 now I'm a little nervous I'll get another RROD. This is really no different than the roulette wheel I spin every single time I turn my console on.

I know they're popular but I don't really get the appeal of the whole trophies/achievement points things. Personally I'm not motivated by scores to play through and finish titles, I'm in it just for the experience as a whole. As a kid growing up in the 80's, scores were the only way you know how well you did. Games were never ending..it was all about how high you could get. Now, games are more like movies - they're an interactive art form. I play games as an escape, I like characters and...

I thought people where tired of WWII shooters?
What a bunch of whiners. I, for one, was looking forward to another good WWII romp. And what's better than killing virtual nazis? Killing virtual ZOMBIE Nazis! That's the stuff!

Developer after developer has complained that the 360 should have had a standard harddrive from the start and it's really a no brainer. Whether developers use the harddrive or not, it certainly doesn't hurt to have it as an option.
Even on the PS3, developers have shown they don't need the harddrive. Just look at COD4 or Uncharted. Put still, it's nice that it's there for developers that can make use of it.

I'm confused. If you think Sony Computer Entertainment isn't making money, well that's just wrong. They returned to profitability after PS3 R&D costs ahead of schedule even. If you think Sony makes zero off PSN - wrong again. You don't think people are paying for content on the Playstation Network? Personally, I've probably spent ...

@ The Lost One. My point was sales should be ramping up now prior to the holiday season and leading into the holiday season, like they always do. They aren't for the 360, at least not like last year...and that worries me.

I was using September as it was pre-Halo (Halo not being launched until the 27th) to give the contrast of console sales pre and post Halo launch. You'd think the price cut in Sept of this year would have boosted the 360 up to at least those levels again, bu...

So Sony is leading the 360 worldwide this year by over one millon units, revenue is up 90%, PSN accounts just tied XBL accounts at 14 million, numerous system updates have made the PS3 better than ever and the PS3 AAA titles have all impressed, developers are all starting to lead on the PS3, the library has grown by leaps and bounds, and then the whole winning the format war thing...how did the PS3 lose out in 2008?

Also, correct me if I'm wrong but I didn't think there had eve...

I loved Silicon Knights work and was really disappointed in this one. The 360 fanboys were all crowing for months about "Too Human! We still have exclusives! Look! Too Human!" and then they were silenced. While that made me smile ('cause fanboys drive me nuts on either side) I wish it wouldn't have happened to Silicon Knights.

To the guy talking about Lair, I understand that once they gave you the option of turning the motion controls off..it's really a lot of fu...

That 760,000 number doesn't reflect second week sales out of Europe yet. If the other regions are any indication, those figures will put it over 1 million in only 2 weeks - fantastic sales for any title, let alone one that was delayed and had a staggered worldwide launch at the last minute.

Halo 3 had little impact on the sales numbers. When you look at the sales numbers for the month pre-Halo vs the month post-Halo - it was only a difference of approx 30,000 consoles worldwide. For the total year, 2007 vs 2008 they're very similar, but they certainly seem to be exhibiting slowing growth going into the holiday season, and that's with outstanding games like Fable 2, Gears 2, Fallout 3 and COD hitting the shelves. You'd think they'd be making a bigger splash and I find it worry...

I remember hearing people say the 4x HD tv's were going to replace 1080p, so don't even bother but then it was pointed out in some tech forums that unless you're viewing a screen over 50", the untrained human eye can't distinguish the difference between 720p and 1080p. You'd probably have to have a 220" screen to notice any difference between 4x HD and 1080p. I don't think we'll see home broadcasts or movies in anything over 1080p, anytime soon.

Personally, I'm luck...
