In the reviews I read, Bioshock, for example, was better on the PS3, as was Pure and no difference to the Force Unleashed, spiderman, etc. What gives? Is Eurogamer just full of it or did all the other reviewers just somehow miss these issues?
In terms of games I think the PS3 had the best year out of all of them. I hadn't bought a 360 game since Halo 3 until Fable 2 came out. I'll buy Gears 2 afterwards, but that's all for 2008. So that's two decent exclusives for the 360. Not quite the impact of the 2007 lineup. The PS3 by contrast had a very solid year of both exclusvies and multiplatform games. It'd say it was pretty even with the PS3 coming out ahead for what they offered gamers. Plus, winning the whole HD format wars t...
When I played Gears 1, I thought "Great! The next gen is finally here. This raises the bar on 360 games. I can't wait to see what's next."
That was in 2006. Then...nutn. Halo 3 was fun, but more of the same. Call of duty 4 was fantastic but so very short...for about 2 years I've been waiting for the 360 to live up to the promise of next-gen gaming that Gears 1 gave me and it looks like I had to wait till Gears 2. I'm pumped for this game - even if I did hate the mult...
One guy linked the Blu-Ray to Sony's stock price. Sony's share price is down almost 60% in the US, but look at it in comparison to other stocks. Everything is down 30%, and on top of that you have the appreciation of the yen vs the US dollar hitting the stock another 28% or so. Just look at any other Japanese electronic company and you'll see they're down similarly...it has zero to do with Blu-Ray.
Also, with developers complaining about lack of storage on DVD - regardless of how Bl...
And yet still they're talking about the next Xbox. Making 400-600 million a year theres no way the 360 is going to break even before it's done. And it's too bad, because the 360 really does kick ass.
Still, doom and gloom for the PS3. It's sold more than the 360 did 2 years in. I think I'll reserve my judgement for now.
He had another blog like this back awhile bashing Sony. Boy, Cnet/Gamespot start their Sony haters off young, don't they?
My wife and I love this game. I have fond memories of this in the arcade and I still love to play it. Why do they think it keeps popping up on next-gen systems? Because it's great!
They said the PS3 version was excellent but if you want to run up and inspect the concrete textures, if that's what matters to you, than the 360 version has a slight advantage. Personally, I don't trust my 360 after 3 dead units so I'll buy this game on the PS3. I know I'll actually be able to play it on that platform instead of having another graphically intensive game putting my 360 over the rrod edge after 1 1/2 hours. I'm not the type to run up to a concrete slab and sit with a print o...
This is far more than just a Sony version of Second Life. Hasn't this guy done his homework?
Come on. Sure they eventually extended the warranty, but they actively covered it up. I can't believe anyone (if this turns out to be true) could stand behind a product that knowingly launched a high price system with a 50% failure rate, I don't care how good a warranty it has.
Anyone else remember back when an insider from EA reported that 50% of their launch 360's had failed, and then this was quickly hushed up and denied later by both EA themselves and Microsoft? This lawsuit is the only other time I'd heard the 50% of launch consoles stat. Personally, I bought my 360 at launch and I'm currently on console #4. I love the games but what a nightmare. Twice I had to pay $170 to get repairs done and both times they extended the warranty I had to fight to get this...
...wouldn't it make sense to judge the game on...oh, I don't know..the final retail version of the game?
This reminds me of all the hate against the Orange Box on the PS3. I just finished it recently and it was nothing short of awesome. There were a few times when the frame rate dropped but it didn't hamper my enjoyment of this fantastic game in the slightest. If you just went by the postings on forums you'd think it was unplayable. This couldn't be further from the truth.

Ok, but at least the weird Sony ones had some artistic merit. What the hell was that? It was a woman smiling, then a stage in her head. That's just lame.
The 40 GB PS3's are being replaced by the 80 GB PS3's at the same price.
I think it's funny to suggest the PS3 is in trouble, and all one has to do is look at the sales figures and compare. How long did it take the 360 to hit 15 million? How long did it take the PS3? Certainly, the PS3 is selling faster than the 360 every did even with it's higher price point. Why the concern that it's somehow "in trouble".
As long as you go into this with open eyes, it's a little late to be jumping on the 360 bandwagon now that it's almost reached it's destination but as long as buyers are aware of this fact I don't think they'll be disappointed. I think the 360 will have at least a couple of good years left in it before it's replaced.
I couldn't agree more. GTA4 was fantastic. Great storey, best dialogue we've had in years. What are these guys smoking?
Wouldn't be the first time Valve sabotaged one of their games to work better for their preferred partners. And really, why would they support the PS3? Microsoft made these guys, of course they're going to support them. The difference is it's become pretty obvious to everyone now how Valve does business.
I was about 6 or 7 when I discovered Donkey Kong Jr at my local corner store and it's been uphill since then. Many hours were spent on Popeye, Missle Command, Star Wars and Space Ace soon afterwards. I had Space Ace down pat and I remember the crowds of people who would gather to watch me wrap that game on one quarter. Something of a novelty at the time. I remember scouring the back alleys looking for bottles to take in to the bottle depot for just a few quarters more. Youth well spent! ...
I'll always buy my multiplatform games on the PS3. After years of having the bulk of my games collection on the 360 I've had over 4 months were I haven't been able to play my games because my 360 console was in for repairs. That'll change your gaming habits in a hurry. I'll take slightly blurry textures I'll never notice unless I'm playing the two consoles side by side over not being able to play my games, any day.
