Gears of War with Resistance 2 (not really same size) monster. Looks like it has better co-op too. I don't know, I'm liking this, but I'll wait for more info before making any decision.

OMG!!!! this was the least expected game to WOW me.... I must tell you..... IT'S FREAKIN AWESOME!!!! I want this now!!!! It's like Gears meets DMC or GOW... Mythical tale and throw in A Gun and Sword characters and you have a blockbuster.. The visuals seem awesome and so does the gameplay with co-op style battles. Also THE TOWER!!!! Just look at the way it changes shape... I can't wait for this. These Japanese guys sure know how to lure people with mythical characters... But hell I love it that way.

Btw: Did they just change the name to only Quantum? I didn't see theory anywhere....

The only thing I don't like right now is that there is no background to the game currently (that I know of). If there is going to be a story this game looks like it will be great, but right now it kind of feels like the story I might find in Soul Caliber. Hope for the best though.

Wow indeed. I'm still very much being cautious about Quantum Theory, but this trailer definitely showed a lot the potential the game has. Basically, it seems like GeoW's UI (weapon display, even the cover info icons) and cover mechanics, with some melee similar to that of Devil May Cry, and moving environments that drastically change gameplay.

From what I could understand from the story, these towers are common and are defeated and destroyed by warriors like our protagonist. But this is the biggest tower yet, and it confuses the characters with its life-like movement and unknown purpose.

It looks really cool. Way better than the video that GameTrailers has up. The GameTrailers video doesn't show any of the tower-changing mechanics and also doesn't show any of the cover mechanics like this video does. It does, however, show one very cool double-team special move that the two characters team up to perform and simply annihilate an enemy.

The only problem I have with this so far is the sound, it's just really weak sounding gunfire effects. They need to make it all pop, make it more explosive. The gun that the player is using for the entirety of the GameTrailers video is pretty lame, as well. Just some weak looking laser pistol with poorly animated laser effects & explosions, and again poor firing sound effects.

The gameplay from this trailer, though, is looking really good. Quite promising indeed. I understand this game isn't going to be out for about a year, so they've got lots of time to improve on it and make it really snap.

I hope Tecmo doesn't mess this game up. It has so much potential, but I see some AI problems. They don't take cover, and they just stand out in the open. I hope there are a variety of weapons. Not just that big gun that the main character has.

Oh, believe me, I don't underestimate the strength of Sony in the game market. They are going to show incredible stuff no doubt. The problem I have is that a lot of people underestimate Microsoft and don't give them the props they deserve.

Why do so many people have to hate one in order to love the other? That makes no sense to me. Both platforms have plenty to offer.

Honestly, this is the best MS conference to date. WAYYYYYYY better than last year's. Miles beyond last year's. No stupid titles like Lips or You're in the movies. Just straight up titles that please the core. Splinter Cell Conviction was my #1 title shown. Alan Wake and ODST was meh to me, but it's still much better than previous titles. Then the project Natal thing is something new and refreshing. As well as the new XBL things like instant 1080p, facebook, etc. And of course we cant forget that MGS:Rising is on the 360. All in all MS's conference was a 9/10.

"hats off to MS" is an understatement.

All Sony has to do to please me now, is give us a release date on GT5 and show some in-game footage for once. More footage of GoWIII, and some surprise annoucements.

Otherwise, so far this is the best E3.
Nintendo was a 7/10 though.

Jeesus! Tecmo have said that Gears was a big influebce both on the game AND their decision to make a shooter at all-there's bound to be similarities.

Thing is with every new piece of info on this game it grows further from those initial "Gears clone" put downs and carves it's own identity. I was always interested but now they really got to me as it looks way better than I expected Tecmo's first shooter to look. The story should be cool as well and, btqw, Gears invented neither the cover system nor the muscle bound squads-IT and Kill/Switch say hi! What you must remember is that even The Stones and Ther Beatles stole their sounds from where they liked then made them their own it's what talent/genius does in our jaded world where true originality is rare(unless you count LBP!)or nearly impossible.

Fact is the game now looks fantastic and the co-op possibilities look amazing. I doubt it'll scrastch Gears sales record but chances are it wil be a very classy game when it lands and fills a big gap in the PS3 exclusive library. There's also meant to be big rpg elemnts to gameplay, added hand to hand and blade edged weapons to fight with and some very impressive puzzling for good measure.

It's more important to ask what else they're "borrowing" ideas from than it is to just think this is Gears with a bird in a tower cos that's not even a third of what Quantum will be about. Keeps getting better, imo.

yep it is influenced by GeoW a bit, but there is one core difference that sets them apart IMO.

Quantum Theory interests me, Gears does not.

I'm a huge jrpg fan, so you should try to see where i'm coming from before flaming me :)

CMBRE-they are meant to be putting a lot of emphasis on the storytelling for this game, hence the levelling uop rumours, dual plotlines etc.

If everuthing improves the way the gfx have you shouldn't have a worry on that front, imo.

It's plays more like NG but with guns in the mix.

Love the Eastern twist to gothic structures. Completely out of this world like something from Final fantasy.

Its not trying to stand in the shadow of Gears. This game resembles it but strays away from gears by adding a female as a playbale character...and killing the black guy first.

The artstyle is different, the setting is different, and I can bet my left nut the story will be different as well. :)

We don't know if MGS Raisen is anything like MGS4 movie wise. So your comments make no sense. And its not that 360 gamers want an MGS game on the 360 to enjoy the game, its that they want it so they can rub it in PS3 fanboys faces. Trust me, they are getting more pleasure from that than the actual game since the game is not even out. And look at the pleasure they are getting from the PS3 fanboys on this site....i have MGS4 and even i am enjoying the succsess of Raisen being on the 360 cause the PS3 fanboys are spinning it every way under the sun cause they are clearly upset....

I could care less that MGS rising is on 360. I always new MGS4 was too ambitious for the 360 to handle which is why MGS4 didnt go to 360. Rising is going to be a multiplatform game so therfore it will be a very watered down version cause its not made with bluray in mind but yet a standard dvd.

Gears lets you grab the enemy, use them as a meatshield while you gun you way trough the enemy's, afterwards you can cut the guy in half with a chainsaw.

Indeed, it should have an I7 processor, a 12 core i7 processor with hyper threading.
The i7 920 which is the cheapest edition out there already blows the cell out of the water when it comes to gaming.

But ofcourse, you rather believe a shoddy german source that transcoded a video on an i7 using only a single tread, instead of all 8.
And then came to a conslusion that the cell is faster.

Absolutely. Gears is a great franchise. I think Epic should be honoured that Devs are seeing the popularity of Gears and doing what they can to make games based off of Gears with accute similarities. It's clear that this game was inspired by gears.

I hope its a good game. I may pick this game up as i really liked gears and the story. If this is anything like gears than this is a great contribution to the PS3 library.

although i would like to agree with you on this i just can't. i could understand if they took certain aspect from gears and put it into the game. but to make it exactly like it. is just wrong. thats like making a GoW clone game without kratos. and yes as much as i don't like sony or the ps3. i do love GoW and i am looking forward to playing GoW3.

i know tecmo needs to make a hit games. being that they had to merge with another company. but making a clone of gears. come on.

I understand where you are coming from. But even Gow has its clones on the 360. Bayonetta is a clone of DMC. There will always be clones out there, the question is are they made better or worse. Devs and console makers always take idea's in one form or another.

Until we can actually see the game playing and know more about it, we can't say that its exactly like gears. Its clear that this game is catering to the western market which is where Gears main sales come from. Sony just wants a piece of that western market pie, and its games like this that will help them sell consoles.

We can't be mad at Devs trying to make a buck in the industry can we? If nobody tried to perfect what others have done...then how will the industry grow?
