@Lightning77 You're right, it is definitely an unusual situation to have TWO CEOs so the question is why?
My guess is that Hulst as a former studio head of Guerrilla and Westerner is best placed to watch over and communicate with the near-universal Western PlayStation studios and film/TV production.
Hideaki Nishino seems to have the more senior role dealing with development of PlayStation hardware and the PSN which I believe is based in Japan so perhaps he is a...
I predicted it would be Hermen Hulst as the new CEO, I never predicted there would be another…
Hulst will likely Host the PlayStation press event and hopefully there will be a positive energy at this new beginning for the division. I’m encouraged that both he and Hideaki Nishino reference the future so it sounds like Sony has a plan.
Poor journalism by Twisted Voxel’s Muhamed Ali Bari. If you’re going to write that Microsoft has doubled down then include a specific quote from Sara Bond where she said this as evidence. without it you are interpreting her words to create a headline to fit a narrative.
It was probably due to the half-hearted release of the Metal Gear Solid Collection v1.
Imagine the extra sales Konami could’ve made if it had put some effort into it.
Bloomberg’s Dina Bass could barely read her scripted question without looking at her notes, whilst Sarah Bond who WAS expecting the question spoke without saying anything of substance or answering the question in any meaningful way. Clearly she’s had the same expert PR training as Phil, but this avoidance was disrespectful. In time the short-sighted decision to shut down Tango Gameworks will be seen as of the most notorious examples why Phil Spencer messed up his tenure in charge of Xbox. Tha...
Mike Ybarra‘s defence of Phil Spencer is the dictionary definition of tone deaf. Even Alanah Pearce, who’s close to Aaron Greenberg and Phil called him out on it.
“Mike, I have a lot of fondness for Phil and don’t doubt he’s incredibly bummed about this, but CEOs can handle some “shots” amidst people having their lives destroyed. Your sympathetic posts should solely be directed at those who’ve lost their jobs.”

I 100% blame 'nice guy Phil' for the death of Xbox. The thing to realise is the Xbox Series S & X are performing WORST in console sales and game sales than the much criticised Xbox One - how can this be?
His two big mistakes were 1-not developing enough exclusives and 2 - always trying to beat PlayStation. If he made more exclusives over his decade reign and not tried to 'win' then classic Xbox would still be here in a profitable third place. Instead he...
'There's no such thing as bad publicity.'
After all the controversy I'm thinking of buying it! 🤦🏻
@Barlos They indirectly did. Every person who made a wish list of who Microsoft should buy next and were sending tweets to Phil Spencer and Xbox with proposed studios, played a part.
The saddest part is the studios were closed because of the underperformance of their last games, and if they had been given a chance then their next games could’ve been great and succeeded. But it is the same old Phil Spencer Microsoft problem which is not giving them a chance, and that’s why h...
So it begins!
Where one contender pulls out of the game, another comes back bigger and stronger.
Nintendo Switch 2 - let the games begin.
Having never played Helldivers II or been an online Steam player I’ve observed this whole furore from a distance. What I have seen is that there have been some people from the Xbox cheerleader community who have not had a good 2024 with all the news that Microsoft games are going to PlayStation. IGN’s Destin Legare is one of this people, where his Xbox output was daily it almost stalled completely. This Helldivers news has bought him out of semi-retirement and he’s celebrating the Sony fail. ...
@redknight80. If the main complaint is that people in over 150 countries cannot create PSN accounts then Sony needs to get its programming/logistics/legal team to make it available. If that happens, the next time Sony releases a multiplayer game on Steam with a PSN account requirement would this stop a repeat of this backlash?
They won’t be.
@CrimsonWing69 A greatly in demand IP only takes you so far, if it was crap quality then the reviews and word of mouth would have stalled its sales. But it is a good game (judged by Metacritic and user reviews) and that has given the game legs.
@TheGamer I haven’t tried the original 2d games because I’m so afraid.
@Christopher wrote "Why would anyone downvote this? Don't be silly. This is great news."
Is this your first time here?! And when you question the downvotes you get downvoted - I don't make the rules but that's the rules!
@MWeaver589 Exactly this point, it was advertised as free for everyone.
-Oh my God, this game looks like a complete rip-off of Helldivers II!
-At least it gives Xbox players the chance to experience something similar to the PlayStation game!
Jokes aside it does make you wonder why Sony, who owns the IP for both, is continuing with two products when there is such overlap. Should it one day make a new Starship Troopers film or a Helldivers film instead?
The default angle Kotaku always go for is to highlight the worst in gaming.
I would’ve focused on the creative.
Crime Boss! I know it hasn't reviewed well but I love the eighties action movie vibe of the trailer but didn't want to risk any money on it so this is a great way for me to play it.
