Then I guess the Zenimax and COD acquisitions are fine too if having a relationship is the bar. Both ES and COD came to Xbox consoles first. 🤷
"Playstation is, and will be for many more years, the king at our living rooms."
That's a hard statement to agree with - the current trajectory would suggest that Switch will overtake the PS2, without waiting 'many more years'.
Unless Nintendo makes a Switch 2 of course.
And yet, none of that changes the fact that it has sold ~123m units in under 6 years.
And no amount of goalpost moving will change that either.
If it's such a good business move, perhaps Sony should copy it.
Excluding Bungie, the following acquisitions worked on other platforms / cross-platform games:
Bend, Naughty Dog, Guerrilla, Suckerpunch, Insomniac, Bluepoint, Firesprite, Housemarque, Nixxes, Fabrik games, Valkrie entertainment.
Also, the industry is more focused on cross-platform today, so inevitably any company you acquire is likely to be cross-platform (see Bungie, Zenimax, etc)
@ocelot "I don't even think Microsoft sees a penny of that. I got them codes from cdkeys."
That's not how that works... cdkeys.com can't mint their own GP codes. Obviously at some point in the chain, they were bought from Microsoft.
Nobody tell him that the majority of Sony's studios were bought 👀👀
Nintendo are the only ones (mostly) innocent in all of this.
"Switch will always have an asterisk beside it for being a hybrid home/handheld device."
No it won't. A sale is a sale, and the Switches sales have been highly impressive.
Hmm? Did you reply to the wrong person or wrong comment?
Where did I put down Sony in my comment?
I dont think I've ever read a comment that is so wrong and off the mark.
I guess you're going to be surprised when Starfield launches and people are sinking hundreds/thousands of hours into it, and when GP is still here at the end of the year.
Definitely. If anything, this year is one of the strongest, if not the strongest year for GP.
Starfield (likely the biggest and most hyped game of the year)
Forza
Redfall
Stalker
Atomic Heart
Wo Long
MLB
Lies of P
Hi-Fi Rush
Plus the other 10-20 titles I'm forgetting and the surprise ones they always drop too.
MS lined up a bunch of bets a while back, and this y...
Oh dang, I forgot GamePass is free /s
The end of the Switch isn't in sight at all while it is still selling large volumes & outselling PS5 and XSX.
At this point, whether the Switch knocks PS2 off the #1 spot is fully up to Nintendo.
No sign of the Switch slowing down, so if they don't launch a new generation of console, they will take the #1 spot.
Looks good, but so was RE7, so it's hard to say "I wish we got this instead".
My guess is they pivoted to what RE7 ended up being after seeing the excitement for, and demise of, PT.
Agreed. I suspect the nominations will be:
SF
FF16
SM2
Zelda
Hi-Fi
DeadSpace (maybe)
@RedDevils Wii and WiiU were weaker than XB360/PS3 and XB1/PS4. Still had COD.
@badz SD plays most games well. But if it's not up to your standards, just get a PC. PC/SteamDeck + Switch.
They stopped supporting Nintendo platforms after releasing a few games on the WiiU, so it's probably related to how poorly that console performed at retail.
Totally should come back to Switch though, Switch is selling like hotcakes.
"they would talked with activision many generations ago to get it"
This just shows you have no idea what you're talking about. GameCube, Wii and WiiU all had COD games.
Nintendo says otherwise. Only about 30% of Switches are used exclusively as handhelds.
I don't see why it's a big deal though, PS2 had a good run, it held the record for ~10 years. It was always going to get unseated at some point.
