They've had massive failings, and they've fought hard and well to win back what they can.
I doubt that's a position Sony want to repeat either way, admirable as their efforts were to mitigate the damage.
The Playstation 3 was a MASSIVE risk. Hopefully they play it a little more safe this generation, becuase it can't be denied Sony's first party offerings deserve to continue and sell.
Conversely, most of the R* teams probably are working on their facet of
GTAV, it seems to be a massive game. Whether it's multiplayer, asset creation, mechanic fine tuning, we can only speculate how it's divvied up.
I suspect staying on top of next-gen and developing GTAV will be the major objectives for R* at the moment.
I like GamesRadar... No excuse for spelling 'sleight' as 'slight' though.
Get on it clever writey people. 'It' being your game!
Hahah, exactly what I came to post.
I ahve got to say last time I posted on one of these articles you could never expect the sole commenters to be as particular as we are.
Agreed. Looks superb, and GTAIV did have it.
No.
It's procedural or dynamic.
We're talking about videogames, everything they do is real time, so by default you do not need to mention it.
'Scripted' as you put it, is still real time.
The distinction is between procedural, and canned/baked.
Real-time and scripted, have no place in this conversation.
@Some_One_Plays @ULTIMATE_REVENGE
Dynamic may be even better word than procedural. Real-time has no place in this conversation as it is a given, all videogames are real-time.
This damage is procedural, or dynamic. Either of them indicate there is an algorithm within the code, that calculates the damage.
I agree with real-time being misleading. Becuase, all games are real-time, even those with baked damage, where it swaps models.
A better term would have been procedural.
But, if you want to entirely skew the definition of 'scripted' in videogame context, then go ahead, but please make sure it's around people like me who will be able to counter inform others who are learning from it.
It's not scripted, because the algorithm can...
GTAIV had it. Procedural deformation, welcome to 2008!
Come on: Approve, and buy this game. I can't wait for the explosion of discussion surrounding it!
To do the worst thing, and not ACTUALLY reply to your comment, I'd just like to say, you can bet it won't be 2011, for Japan. I expect we'll have quite a lot of media from Versus at TGS.
Or if not, they have their own event this year don't they? Is it still called DK[Sigma]13?
Clearly none of you read the article.
If you give time up, to read something, please let it be this blog.
The writer makes more than clear that he has no problem with homage being paid. Where his frustration lies, is with the assumption by the audience, and the manipulation by the developers, that this game is labelled 'artsy', purely becuase of an aesthetic that Ueda has 'iconised'.
And I agree. The title might be great, but there's two things tha...
That's such rubbish. Shadow of the Colossus is pretty much a 5 hour game, on a speedrun. If you KNOW what to do,a nd where to go!
So talking about length is not only totally subjective, but also completely wrong. I don't know where that misconception came from.
Just realised it's fishd :D
Hey buddy, long time no see, love the avatar chnage! :P
It IS Uncharted 1, i rememeber seeing it ages ago. And look at the HUD and clothes, it's not Uncharted 2.
I guess I shouldn't expect anything else from a blog, but we won't be seeing this 'very soon'.
I doubt we'll even hear about the game officially, this year.
But there is a team of awesome and talented people working on it, very clever and considered designers. Their writing, make me extremely excited to see what they're capable of, becuase they can identify so much.
You and unfortunately Michael at 'Tale of Tales' are heady with optimism surrounding the medium, and are forgetting that all-important economic side.
Having spoken with Michael on their blog (as many people get the excellent opportunity to) I understand, and completely agree with what of lot of what he says, on a hypothetical level.
But people forget that those who want innovation in their games, are a minority, and aren't the people who are buying millions of co...
Not really what a character artist that has to be aware of street and urban fashion implies, but nevermind.
Sony owns the IP, so I doubt Sucker Punch would want to create a new IP on their own.
It kind of multiplies the risk.
Count me in!
