no, but I don't need some numbers to tell me MGS4 is way better (IMO).
But really it doesn't matter, because I have a PS3 so I can own both :)
I'm so tired of "old-skool" gamers bashing on new games. yes, a lot of old games were amazing. However, so are many more new games. The industry is growing and we're getting more and more awesome games.
By the way, Super Metroid only takes like 8 hours (if that) to beat, and it's supposed to be the best "old-skool" game.
wait for E3 before you all get too excited. I expect we'll see some new stuff from XIII this year at E3.
The reviewer probably wanted to give it a 10 but they wouldn't let him because of that reason. I mean, COME ON! The only complaint was that the (skipable) cutscenes are repetitive on the mulitiple playthroughs you'll want to do!
So let me get this straight, because a collected average of some reviews out of a broken review system average to GTAIV>MGS4, GTAIV is automatically better. Period. Is that right?
Personally, I think GTAIV is great, not a 10 though. I KNOW I will like MGS4 more because I've like the other MGS games more.
However, none of this matters much to me, because since I own a PS3 I can actually play BOTH to form my opinion. ;)
If they were to give out 2 10's within like 2 months it would make them seem like to "easy" of reviewers. I can just about guarantee that if GTAIV came out AFTER MGS4 it would be the one with a 9.9 and MGS4 with a 10. After all, their only real complaint is that the (skipable) cutscenes get repetitive on your 2nd and 3rd playthroughs of the game :/

I GUARANTEE that if GTAIV came out a month after MGS4 instead of GTAIV coming out first, MGS4 would have a 10 and GTAIV would have a 9.5-9.9.
this is bull and a disgrace. This guy has hated the seris, owns and Xbox and no PS3, yet they let him review the game. WTF?!?!?!!? This is complete and utter bull $#%^. They just wanted to bring down it's average.
I'm P.O.'d I know 9.9 is extremely high, but it just proves that they're too scared to give another game a 10 so soon after GTAIV in fear of losing their credibility. a 9.9 basically says "the game is perfect, but we feel like being @$$ holes"
And then that gay Eurogamer review giving this game a 8!?!?!? WTF!?! It's uncalled for and flat out fanboyism.
All this being said, I know MGS4 will almost definitly be my favorite game ever released.
one of the best soundtracks ever is only fit to accompany one of the best (if not THE best) games ever.
I love that fact that older people always bring up our generation's "ignorance" yet when we run into something we don't know, with all the "computer age" stuff we have, we can find answers in a matter of minutes, if not seconds. Whereas if Joe 75 year old finds something he doesn't know, he's screwed because he doesn't know how to use a freaking computer.
I really have to play the first one, because I've heard great things about it and it seems like the kind of game I'd like.
While I do LOVE GTAIV and have been playing it since April 29, I do agree with most of you that it's not perfect. 9.5-9.8 IMO. Metal Gear Solid games have always been my favorites, by far. MGS4 will probably deserve a 10 more than GTAIV, and most reviewers will probably know this.
Unfortunately, GTAIV came out first, so reviewers aren't going to give MGS4 a 10/10 just because they don't want it to seem like they just give away 10's. I sure hope I'm wrong though, because MGS...
If this game is $40, I'll get it for sure! If it's $60, i'll deffinitly consider it. This and Mass Effect were the two 360 games I wanted the most, and now I can get this on PS3, and I might pass on ME or get it on PC if I really want to.
Dang! I would really really love to pre-order it (i'm a HUGE R&C fan) but I won't have the money to buy it right when it comes out because of MGS4. =(
Snake Eater is my favorite so far too (though that'll probably change come June 12)
Just wait till you get to the end of MGS3. One of the most emotional things ever.
I could see sites like IGN, 1up, and Gamespot giving this game like a 9.8 even if it deserves a 10 just because they feel it would lose their credibility to give out 2 10s in the course of 2 months.
I hope I'm wrong though, because I'm thinking this game will deserve a 10 moreso than GTAIV

I got it Wii in Christmas 06. I played it a decent amout last year, though not a lot. I wouldn't say I regret buying it, because Zelda, Metroid Prime 3 and Fire Emblem are three great games from 3 of my favorite franchises.
However, I got a PS3 in Christmas 07, and I havn't had my Wii plugged in for months. The last game I got was Smash Bros., and while it's a great game, it just wasn't as addictive for me as Melee was.
