@CS7,
I was honestly thinking keeping the old-style overworld would have been a good idea considering budget constraints, just make play areas on the overworld for the player to enter into.
I actually miss overworlds in JRPGs.
I feel like the Crisis Core remaster was good enough, I just think they were too ambitious in remaking FF7, probably should have gone a bit more budget with the graphics to make it cheap enough to do the whole game. And I think the graphics is one of the best things about the remake.
I wouldn't say we've had too many FF games recently, I can agree with everything else though.
In my own head cannon, I'd like to think people are getting tired of sub-par FF releases, or that they're tired of what Square-Enix is doing with the franchise, but I'm not sure if that's the case. People have also stated pack release schedules, but I'm also unsure of that because FF games are generally regarded as the cream of the crop when it comes to JRPGs. I'm also heard the tired argument of them being PS5 exclusives hurt their sales, which I believe to be nonsens...
I'm actually with CS7 on this, this is a question worth asking, because FF games always sell well on brand name alone, even the more sub-par entries generally sell well, FF16 and FF7 Rebirth have both been more questionable.
I had the Genesis and the Saturn, also had the SNES and 64, I never got a Dreamcast for some reason, but I never saw one in the stores either.
And today I was reading that apparently they were going to do a DS2 Remake, but weren't happy enough with the first game's remake to continue. I was really hoping to see them actually make a new game to finish off the story of the franchise.
Probably should stop giving CEOs such exuberant pay packets too, still don't know how inefficient you would have to be for Spiderman to go from $90mil to $315mil for Spiderman 2 (I suspect DEI/ESG played a part there).
The game was pretty meh, but those Microtransactions were pretty bad if I remember right.
I don't see any cause for worry? Why would game promotion worry you?
I'm still surprised the game is as popular as it is, I thought this would have died years ago.
No matter how many times I'm told this is official, it looks so much like a bootleg of P5.
It's rare to even seen a Timezone in Australia these days, I remember when they used to be in some malls when I was a little kid, good times.
It's sad to see them die off in Japan as well, I guess it's time to add another row or two of Pachinkos then.
The prices are so out of reach for most people, I think the best thing to come out of it will be the price reduction of 30 and 40 series cards, people who have been hanging on with 5 plus year old GPUs (the 9, 10 and 20 series) will be tempted to grab one of those cards. The pricing on 40 series GPU is awful, especially when you look at poor value for money choices like the 4080, most suspect that was done on purpose to encourage people to fork out for the 4090 instead.
I think this article is a nothing burger, it won't create a Series S/X issue, it'll be more akin to what the PS4/PS4 Pro was, provide people with better performance at higher frame rates. I'm not saying you'll get 4K 120fps with all the bells and whistles, but it'll at least be a smoother experience. Having said that, I don't think it'll be worth upgrading from a PS5 if you already own one.
I'm still using a 7 year old PC and can game comfortable at 1440p 90fps, I'm waiting for socket AM6 to come, then I'll upgrade. If you build the best PC you can afford at the time, you can easily use it for years with minimal upgrades. People always think you need to upgrade a PC every 2 years, my PC still trades blows with a PS5 as it is.
When you consider the longevity and the wide variety of games, plus Steam sales, I think PC is pretty good value, now if on...
I think this just goes back to companies trying to force the subscription model into everything, I don't want to pay a subscription to use Office or Adobe, I don't want to pay a subscription for heated seats in my car, I don't want to pay a subscription for multiple games. I want to buy and own the product to use and enjoy as I please, I also don't want a constant internet connection for everything either.
Some of those games and developers are collapsing/falling hard anyway, people just need to be more selelctive with their money.
I was born in the late 80s, and I don't remember it being this bad in the 90s, this kind of thing was rare in comparison, as @raWfodog mentioned, the Hot Coffee mod was the most significant one I remember from my childhood.
The Destiny games always feel gimped in some way to me, they could have been amazing games if it wasn't for their flaws, hopefully the 3rd game isn't gimped or flawed in any significant way.
