When determining a "year" of a certain console, one would look at consoles sales first, and quality of software second. Wii definitley won the sales, but PS3 won the quality award. Would you honestly tell me that the Wii has better games than the PS3 or 360? Please think before you try to throw the Wii in our faces.
Yes, 2009 is the year of the PS3 also. Wii will reign in sales, PS3 will reign in quality games. 360 will still do well, but its time is passed.

I wish developers would realize that 360 still has the advantage if they don't include trophy support. At least in my opinion, achievements make or break a purchase like this. There would be no argument as to which was better if the PS3 version had trophies.

So many other posters have posted a better response than I was about to give, so I'll just give my opinion. By the time FF13 comes out, the gap between PS3 and 360 will have gotten even closer. There are already more PS3's sold in Europe and Japan. Both of those territories will buy FF13. It is entirely possible that this rumor is true. Square Enix can announce a game before starting development right? We've known about FF13 since forever. I don't expect to see the game for a few years, but that doesn't mean they can't announce that it is on the table.

It is good to be cautious after the FF13 announcement, but after listening to the 1up yours podcast on the 22nd, Shane Bettenhausen built a case for why Square Enix still has a good relationship with Sony. It had to do with the FF13 demo, and the two previous cell phone games that have been since made exclusive to PSP. (FF13 Agito, and Parasite Eve 3). So it seems like Sony and SE are patching things up hopefully.
I would prefer a PS3 exclusive but having it on 360 would be ok as well. Just don't put it on the Wii.
Wow, somehow I got banned from speaking in the gamer zone for 6 days? Wii fanboys are making me sick lately. Somehow they managed to get me suspended. Oh well, the fact is that Sony is innovating and Nintendo is raking in the profits thanks to shovelware and old franchises that offer little upgrade from the previous generation. Nintendo is the bane of this generation and you all know it is true. If you want innovation, stick with Sony.

The Wii is not a fad. This is thanks to the media, not good games. The games you list pale in comparison to what is coming out on PS3/360. No one even cared about Warioland when it was available on other Nintendo systems, the only reason people use it as fuel now is because its one of the very few games that could be considered something to look forward to on the Wii. Personally, Madworld is all I am excited about, and it will probably suck. Oh and NES, SNES, and PS1 were the greatest systems...

The Wii fans hide a lot. :) Its not that they are more mature, its just that there are so few. And when they do come out, they get negative bubbles and flamed like crazy. I feel bad for them. :(
They can exist on the Wii, but they are seriously in the minority, and would be better served by the PS3/360. Developers know this and you should not expect to see a lot of core titles for the Wii. A guy up above me listed about every hardcore game that is announced for the Wii in the next 2 years, and it was a very small list.
Either PS3 or 360 is fine with me. Just don't put it on the Wii please.
I really want PS3 and 360 to overtake the Wii, but I have to accept that at the current rate, it won't happen. This is a weird generation for video games. The best console is not the current leader. I hope developers don't jump ship to the Wii. This was my biggest fear a year back, but it doesn't seem to be the case. All the good games are still on PS3/360 for now. I am learning to accept the 360, as I am a PS3 fan. At least the 360/PS3 have good games. :(
