WOW was one game. EA has licenses to hundreds of IPs. You arent comparing the same thing. Not only that, subscription services are dying: ESO online is exhibit A.
I dont understand why you think Sega could sell a subscription considering they havent even done a Sonic game justice in years. Sega classics can be played on any emulator on your phone. And once the nostalgia wears off, your stuck with another 11 months of your subscription.
I cant stand subscriptions. They just lead the way to Paywalls eventually. Imagine having to pay a monthly fee for the new Madden or NHL? EA will take it to the limit every time.
The Steam page still tells you if a reviewer has the game and how long they have played it. Then it gets upvoted or downvoted by users on the reviews. Its a great way to weed out phonies and fanboys, and the community does all the work.
You may be waiting a while for a sale if its on the Microsoft Store. They dont do sales as often as one would like.
Anyone who has played Stardew Valley knows how serious this affliction can be.
Wait, what? Jon Jones at heavyweight?!
Know what's better than smokin and gaming? Nothing.
You leave cannabis users out of your little argument.
That's some Master Bait right there.
I'm just kidding around Neon. I get what you're saying.
I plug my PC into the wall, and then into the TV. Works every time.
@Neon the PC community isnt as fractured as the console lads. There will always be Nvidia/AMD fans within the PC community, but its still the same general platform.
Whether you game on a Dell or your own rig, a PC game is a PC game.
Console gamers defend their console of choice because there is such a dichotomy between consoles. One console will get exclusives, or better online service, or BC over another. But PC service will be the same across the board...
Keep all its profits, yes. But what kind of exposure will the masses get from the Windows store? I know I dont frequent their site very often. So unless you are specifically looking for QB, I cant see too many people clamoring to sign up for Windows Live again.
Steam is still THE premier PC gaming service with 25+ millions of users.
I cannot see Microsoft sharing profits with Valve, thats a given. But I have to wonder what the sales numbers will be at the end of the da...
I wouldnt say gamers necessarily roll over for publishers. I remember when Batman:AK dropped for PC last year. Gamers went wild. So much in fact that WB pulled Batman back so they could try again.
Another example last year was when Steam tried to bring in paid mods. If you were on any gaming site or social media, you know how that turned out. Valve at least realized you cant put a round peg in a square hole and backed away.
Social media has given game...
A complete game isn't really a suggestive thing. Here's an easy way to tell if a game is finished: the sooner DLC launches alongside the game is a good indicator of a companies practises. Battle of Jakku literally launched the same time as the main game. Why didn't they add it in the full game? $20 a piece, that's why. Same with Evolve. Same with Destiny.
When games need DLC within a short time of release, it means they either held back or they needed to add something...
I hate the word Entitled. Its like someone calling you a brat because you want to actually get what you pay for.
Dont call me buddy, guy.
Personally I cant wait for them to shake off the Wii U and refocus on the future. Not because I think the Wii U is terrible, but I want Nintendo to return to form, and the NX is the biggest chance Nintendo has of getting back on the board. The Wii U was not a popular console Im afraid. So for old-school Nintendites like myself, Im really pulling for Nintendo to knock this out of the park.
Being silent about the Wii U in general is what attributed to their poor start. I literally had to explain to my brother on Sunday that the Wii U was not a Wii add-on. This just shouldnt happen a few years into their life cycle.
Nintendo needs to spread the word far and wide. Or everyone will just hold off on any purchase until the NX or whatever drops. They should hit the mountaintop and shout out that Star Fox and hopefully Zelda is still coming for Wii U. And if its...
@Ratchet
Exclusives like Street Fighter V, Tomb Raider, ReCore, Gears of War, Shenmue 3, DeadRising 3, Ryse, Firewatch, No Mans Sky? Those exclusives?
There are more cross-overs than exclusives on the PC front, so dont you worry about what us poor PC players are playing.
My projector throws up a 110" screen, so every pixel seems as big as my thumb. I fired up FF8 for nostalgia a while back and holy mother was it hard to look at. It definitely put my nostalgia in check. I couldnt be happier to play it on the PS1 emulator on the Shield though.
Leave Apple out of this completely, Luckey. We dont want their ecosystem tainting Pc gaming.
