You don't have to pay anything to go on Home. If you like, you can buy things from there (I don't know what items specifically, personally I'd rather spend my time gaming instead of "socializing" in a fake environment).
Comeon, regardless of sales, clearly the best games of 2008 were on the PS3. I mean, I don't remember how well Mario 3 did on the NES but it was surely the greatest game that year. Just because some people spend their money stupidly doesn't make something the best. And all xbox purchases are stupid, yes, because why would anyone pay extra to play online? That's just stupid.
Of course it's still a big deal, I don't want to pay a cent to play online. I gotta pay for the ISP and that's a big enough chunk right there. Imagine if I was playing an MMO on Xbox Live, I'm now paying an extra 20 bucks on top of it. Nickel and dime, just nickel and dime...

I liked the commercial for Motorstorm, but yeah, PS3's advertising hasn't been nearly as invasive as M$ has been. I am always somewhat annoyed when M$ has a commercial for a multiplat game. I know hype can be a bad thing if overdone, but Sony is not hyping anything, ever anymore.

Warhawk is the most underrated game, period... and it's by a landslide. Official servers, 4-player splitscreen online mayhem. Use your own music. I'm not going to list why it rocks, but Warhawk has been the best, most consistently good game (as in it's never felt stale), with continued support from their development team.
Warhawk came out over a year ago and it's still enough reason on it's own to get a PS3.
I really think it's more of an issue of growing up. When you're young, like 12 and under, you just play the games and enjoy them. You're not thinking about "well the graphics could be better" or "this background music is great!" You're just in the experience.

Definitely solved the biggest issues facing the game with the AI running out of bounds and all the freezing. Might actually play this again since I won't have to worry about playing through a game only to have it crash. I couldn't even do training without crashes.

I still remember this series when it was on the 3DO, where it originated. Back then, the cars behaved realistically, and it had these videos of this guy that would say things after the race based on how you'd done. It was a pretty fun game. On one track, the highway, it was the only track possible to reach 200mph and you had to not hit anything to do it.

The only conclusion I can come to then is that it sucks.
I remember when MLB The Show and MLB 2K8 were about to be released last year, only The Show released a demo on PSN before release. It kicked ass, but 2K8's demo was nowhere to be seen. Why? Because it sucked so bad they knew if people compared them, The Show would have slaughtered 2K8 completely.
I apply this logic to almost all games now.
While the point of Beta testing is to find out if everything works... "complaining" because it doesn't work is stupid. You're not playing the finished product, you know that right? Of course there are going to be flaws. That was the whole damn point! They couldn't test the load of the servers internally without it costing them, so they got BETA TESTERS (ie. YOU) to do it for them!

Trophies were a bad idea because Microsoft thought of them first... lol but no really, they suck. For offline games, I don't see a problem with them, but for online they do nothing productive. All you get is a bunch of people trying to get trophies and completely ignoring the team aspects. All you end up with is a bunch of individuals who want to get something as pointless as trophies.
