Your comment is true and more. Most DX12 Draw calls and State Changes are offloaded to the GPU Command processors in new silicon. According to a report by DigitalFoundries it was claimed by a MS engineers this frees up 50% CPU load. The DigitalFoundires was also told improvements were made in memory coherency between the CPU and GPU. In other words, don't underestimate DX12 titles optimized to use the command processors.
All that being said, MS designed the Scorpio ...
The Destiny 2 game engine must not be DX12 capable. By using the increased frequency, CPU to GPU coherency optimizations, as well as the offloaded DX12 command processors will effectively makes the xboX's CPU twice as powerful as the xb1. If it is CPU constrained, it is an engine, or a conscience self-imposed constraint for console frame rate parity.
I hate to say it because I love the xbox brand, but I agree with this article completely.
If Scorpio uses a Jaguar variant CPU, then it will fail. It's just a slightly more graphically powerful PS4Pro. I don't own a PS4 or a PS4Pro, but I can darn well guarantee that I will buy a PS4Pro instead of a Scorpio if it is just a Jaguar CPU. The CPU is the biggest issue with both platform now. I was not encouraged by some leaked reports from DigitalFoundry about some CPU assumptions. I'd love to see some more optimization with the BC stuff. With a more powerful CPU, BC ...
If it's not a ZEN/(Vega or Navi) derived device, it is not worth the endeavor. At the very least it needs a Zen based CPU. Jaguar is a detriment to this current gen. All other things being equal to the xb1s, I figure MS can spend ~250.00 for the APU and still come in just under $499.99. If they add 12GB DDR5+/HBM2 variant, they will be pushing it at a slight loss per console into 2018. Personally, If they can minimize loss per console tom under 25.00, it would be well worth the inves...
What makes this all possible is the xbox vm architecture. Emulation is at the hardware level mostly. I want the white papers on this tech.
I am okay with this so long as it doesn't force Microsoft to keep game prices higher. Get money back on one end, usually means charge more on another.
I have a Kinect and use it for the voice commands only. Rarely in Skype, never in games.
Kinect may not be dead though, especially if MS decides to package an xbox branded Oculus. If Spencer and MS team have figured out how to enhance the xbone with some thru GPU add-on (Kinect Port??), the Kinect may have a second life.
It is clear Oculus and MS do have some partnership, this is evident in the packaged xbox controller with Oculus. Similarly, MS already has...
Hardware doesn't look so good for the pricetag. I wouldn't pay 300.00 for those specs. Needs the newer 256 GB storage, otherwise a massive waste of hardware with room for software.
It is so stupid to hold off until some announcement, or part of some pre-order package if I already own the game... Release these BC titles now and offer incentives to people to pre- order who don't already own the game. It is not an incentive to me because I already have the games. Freaking companies and their stupid marketing departments and flawed thinking.
Good story will be great, but fixed game would be better. Hated all the stupid loading screens...god-awwful.
8K displays are right around the corner and MS should spec out full 8K 60fps, anything less will fall short like this current gen with PS4 and Xbox One. This is assuming they launch In The next 3 years.
In game purchases means no buy for me. Develop the entire game and sell the entire game, period!
Where the heck is Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3? Where are all the Call to Duty Games. Where is Red Dead Redemption? Many of the games that really matter are missing
Oh yeah baby! Game and DLC all.
I have to say something about this game. I paid the full amount for this game. It plays like Halo, but the loading times are terrible, and the content is terrible. After about 4 hours, I simply abandoned this game. However, I have been waiting for something to come along that will fix the broken load times, or add to the single payer experience. Neither have come. In addition, they have added more overpriced expansions. My faith in Bungie is greatly diminished with their relationship TO...
The BC might just convince me to sell my 360 and get another One.
Yeah....Dune! This is going to be great!
They said BC was impossible. Now they say USB peripherals are impossible. I predict they will make even this possible too. MS software engineers are geniuses.
Apply pressure to the various Xbox 360 game publishers to get your game BC'ed. MS made the process simple. The Publishers just need to approve.
I want all 360 games BC'ed. Even Kingdom af Amalur, which dev no longer exists. Go gettem MS.
I will be convinced of xb1x CPU capability once I see a title like Forza Horizon 3 running in native 4K/60. There is still no evidence of any open world doing this however.
