not many people seem to understand the definition of "racist".
The actual definition of racist is rather dark and serious:
"a person who believes in racism, the doctrine that a certain human race is superior to any or all others."
Saying that Mario (the game) is RACIST because he displays a few perceived stereotypes belonging to a particlar country actually does a disservice to the problem of genuine racism, which nobody should c...
crazy titles ftw
an 8 IS good...
A lot of my favourite PS3 exclusives got an 8 from at least a few places, despite the average being 9+.
If the average for this game goes down to a mediocre number that's another story, but either way, no need to fuel flames.
Fanboys can't be reasoned with, aren't worth trying to understand, and basically have nothing of worth to add to any discussion.
They scored AC2 two points lower than AC1...?
That alone destroys any pretence of consistency.
I thought GR gave Killzone 2 a 7, or a 6, something like that...maybe that was a different division.
They do sound all over the place based on the scores you listed.
Every time. Every big PS3 exclusive, European GameReactor divisions (often Norway) get an early review out, and without fail it's destined to be among the lower scores that will ever get published.
Without fail.
Are they lower than average with 360 scores as well?
edit: not as early as I thought. my bad.
1. Xcode/Cocoa is used for both OSX and iphone. Same language, same code base targeting either platform. Ipad natively runs iphone software. So how's it any different?
2. The same game on multiple platforms is not necessarily a good idea. Most developers subject their games to painstaking finesse to achieve the best possible control/input. You don't just throw that out the window and say "oh, I'll do THIS level on a touch screen, whatever..."
3. Windows 7 p...
I agree. The title of the story was destined to see it go down as a flamewar.
Art direction > polygons.
Whether or not Reach holds its own against the rendering tech of other games, it looks great and will make fans of the series very happy.
But never fear, because you've arrived and saved the day with your poignant reminder!
Nevermind that it's only a graphics article.
there should never, EVER be an article that only compares graphics, because us poor gamers who take comparisons SO SERIOUSLY are too simple minded to assess one aspect of two games.
Graphics are meaningless! Halo would have been just as cool in 8 bit pixel art. TEH GAMEPLAY!
Your defensiveness has rescued us from...
Do you really think there are zero players online right now in Killzone 2?
You're either made of failtroll or you'll just believe any old crap to satisfy the things you want so hard to believe.
That said, Halo DOES have a much stronger ongoing community. No denying that.
Lots of starry-eyed hopefuls with irrational hatred and an undying defiance that anything in any aspect whether significant or otherwise could be superior on PS3.
But no sensible people did.
Wow, I barely made it through that wall of text.
I appreciate your thoughts in response to my post, I don't disagree with them. Unfortunately, you entirely missed my point.
You may not like Killzone'2 game play. I loved it. It's beside the point.
This is an article about graphics. KZ2's graphics simply went above and beyond anything else, and they haven't been surpassed yet. It upped the ante IN GRAPHICS < sorry I thought that point was clear.
...
The people Apple have clout with aren't typical gamers in my experience, so if they did a console I think it'd have a very different focus to 360/PS3.
But I doubt there's even much truth to this at all. I can't imagine them wanting to dilute too much focus from making the ipad successful first.
Awesome damage control as usual...360 fanboys crack me up.
Truly never able to give credit where credit is due, huh? You might prefer Halo gameplay, you might prefer its online community....but FFS...Seriously - Guerrilla Games put four or five years of work into a TRULY AMAZING graphics engine, and it hasn't been surpassed yet. That's it. But you can't admit it.
Killzone 2, whether you like it or not, whether you like the game or not, pulled the industry foward a no...
Their product manager said "orientated"?
Antialiased trees and bushes?!
MEGATON
@Arnon:
The Wiimote approximates arm movement based on motion vectors captured inside the remote, games may then in turn (if they want to) try to approximate the players body movement in a larger sense.
By adding a camera and combining a similar detailed device that accurately conveys physical movement, the extension of information speaks for itself.
It's a like a cross between Wiimote and Natal - or in fact, a combination of the two strengths.
Nat...
I think Wii haters (most people who own 360/PS3) are gonna try to love Natal.
Then they'll just try to sort of like it.
Soon afterwards it will turn to a passing interest, casual tolerance.
All the while, there will be a huge influx of casual shovelware, fitness programs, C grade games that focus purely on "new" input and excuse themselves from actually providing compelling gameplay.
Tolerance will become hate. Current gamers will ...
wrong story
Will do.
N4G submissions for iPhone seem to be restricted to high profile developers and submissions from the bigger review sites, but I'll try to figure out some way of doing a shout-out.
@bishop, one of the better comments I've seen in a long time! Would be good to see a better understanding of the term "indie" amongst gamers.
