Why are you defending Microsoft?

Yes there are PS3 fanbois here, and yes some stupid stuff gets said, but so what if people want to call Microsoft on this propaganda, fanboi or not?

I love the PS3, but if Sony does something stupid, or dodgy, I'll call them on it and poke as much fun at them as anyone else.

Look at the games lineup of 2007 and tell me no one expected higher sales. It's ridiculous.

"Well, here is the 2007 holiday season!...

Exactly.

That's the stupidest thing about the shortages claim. For them to not expect higher sales than 2006 is just crazy. You'd have to be living under a rock to not think that's a bit odd.

Yes. Logic. Easy.

2007 towards the end of the year was widely praised as one of the best years of gaming in history, due almost entirely to strong, high quality Xbox360 titles.

Believing that MS had no idea they would move more consoles at that time relative to 2006 is tantamount to believing they are braindead morons.

Do they expect good games to boost console sales, or not? If they do, then they clearly can't have been surprised by the sales. If they d...

Great read.

Thanks for making an excellent and informative post.

Shouldn't lower 360 sales be expected? Late last year so many big 360 games hit, but there hasn't been anything since.

Between last year and now, what exclusive 360 draws are there? Lost Odyssey is one title I can think of but it probably wasn't a console mover.

PS3 has the Bluray boost and some big hyped titles coming very soon, so I think it's a no brainer and a perfectly natural fluctuation that the sales balance shifted.

If Microsoft had have dropped...

Let me say this:

360 owners and PS3 owners alike should be happy about everything that's happened this gen.

Microsoft seems to have taken a bit of a weak approach to 2008, but this PS3 momentum should kick their asses back into gear, bringing the most awesome content and feature enhancements they can dream up.

Likewise - Sony's completely nerfed WTF-worthy approach to this generation is now finally getting into gear because Microsoft has been there to th...

I'm in two minds about the supply constraints. A lot of things don't add up about it, but on the other hand the sales figures probably shouldn't have naturally done such a big backflip either.

There's lots of good reasons the PS3 is moving more units now, but I would at least expect the NA numbers to level out or go back into 360 favor for a while.

The PS3 still doesn't have the big guns. MSG/GT5/etc will help a lot and I think that's when we'll see definitive PS3 sa...

Who are you referring to?

I was only pointing out that this article is very silly. It makes out like the number 1000 is a milestone that will provide some kind of boost in itself. It's just silly wording.

Also - as far as comparing games quality, here's how it is:

Xbox360 has higher rated games than PS3 in the top Tier (for now), however, PS3 games have a higher overall rating average. So this 1000 games is obviously not made of quality. The Wii has the ...

I can see it now, all those families waiting there on the edge of their seats. Their eyes are glued to the games counter...DING! 1000 games! Alright let's go buy it!

Hooray for the huge boost. Excellent.

This article is retarded.

Samsung: $9 more expensive that previous peak.

Sony: $3 more expensive that previous peak.

Sharp: $6 more expensive that previous peak.

* Panasonic: $19 LESS expensive that previous peak.

* LG: NA after $999 debut - obviously cheaper today.

* PS3: No change.

I mean come on...start complaining when they go up by $25-$50 or something. This article is just nonsense. The prices wil...

There's hardly any difference between PC and Xbox360 architecture (unsurprisingly). That's why UE3 games are very easy to get running smoothly on the Xbox360 already. Focusing EU4 on consoles will help the PS3 a lot but probably won't mean much for 360 games.

5917d ago 2 agree5 disagreeView comment

UE3 sits graphically somewhere in the middle of other middleware. There's some beautiful Unreal Engine games, but none of them are the best of the best (in terms of looks).

You have to consider when EU3 was made though. It's fairly old now I think, no? It was made before the current console generation if I'm not mistaken, and was pretty freakin awesome when it first hit.

UE4, unless they have idiots working for them now, is sure to look pretty damn stunning before on...

Ok...so...just to get this straight...

Microsoft is saying that Bluray, as technology, will be replaced in the future with different technology?

How could that POSSIBLY happen?!

It would be as though technology follows some kind of ongoing progression. Who comes up with these crazy ideas?

is overpriced here a swell.

For a game I know I want to keep I'll get from other places instead.

I can sometimes find a game for AUD$20-$30 cheaper than what EB wants.

to Sony for letting him make such a completely unusual and unproven game without getting their hands all over it first.

It's great to a see a publisher treat an indie developer with respect.

Everyday shooter is by far my favorite PSN game. The music is so good, and when coupled with the awesome visuals, it's a thing of beauty.

Does EB in the US not do this?

Here in Aus if you buy a game at EB you can take it back after a week and swap it no questions asked, no strings attached. Any game, any time.

Lots of people do it, although for a game you like you obviously keep it anyway. I think Haze is shaping up pretty well, and looks like it has pretty awesome online potential, so is it worth only having it for a week?

Why is there a category for "Other Europe", and also "Other"?

What regions make up "Other"? It is consistently an Xbox360-heavy category. The numbers are nearly three times the size of Australia, so we're talking about some serious people that live in "Other". Who are they?

For all those conspiracy theorists that believe VGChartz pad out the 360 numbers, that'd be the "territory" to use.

I guess it could ...

Why is there so much fanboy crap in the "Gamer Zone"?

The Open Zone only has one comment, instead of the 60% or 70% of comments from this zone that should have gone there.

I guess splitting it up didn't work?

Ok...so Intel buying the company puts extra funding and resources into Project Offset I guess?

Or are there maybe other agendas?

That's all I'm trying to find out. There's no information anywhere about why Intel bought them, what their plans are, etc. Usually the intention of a buyout is obvious but this I have no idea.

Is Offset Software a game dev or more a general software developer?

I know Intel has been involved in 3D engines and other software ventures but I have no idea what this news means to gaming, or even to the Project Offset game specifically.

Any ideas why this news would actually be interesting? (don't mean that facetiously)
