Well, I'm not saying it's a disappointing game, but people wouldn't know until they buy it, and their sale is already locked in then. Of course the game was going to sell a lot no matter what the reviews said. It's a very popular franchise. If the next Call of Duty released and averaged a 75 on Metacritic, it would still sell by the millions.

And I don't think anyone's saying GT5 is a bad game or that it failed as a game, it just didn't live up to ...

Sales prove that the reviews are wrong? Huh?

I find it funny that people continue to compare Move and Kinect sales when the majority of Move users will be buying at least two Move controllers, which both count toward the sales number. The actual install base of Move is probably not much higher than 2 million after it was released in September. Each Kinect sale is to a unique customer because you only need that one device to play with your friends. That would put Kinect's install base at 2.5 million since its release in November.

Wow! That's very good news for GT5. This would mark the end of GT5's opening week since it launched on a Wednesday, so that would put it in 5th place for the biggest first week of any game this year! Here are the contenders:

5.39 million - Call of Duty: Black Ops (360)
4.05 million - Halo: Reach (360)
4.01 million - Call of Duty: Black Ops (PS3)
2.70 million - Final Fantasy XIII (PS3)
2.40 million - Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)

@thereaperson

Move came out in September, while Kinect came out in November. There's the difference.

2.5 million Kinect units sold = 2.5 million unique Kinect users in 1 month.
4.1 million Move units sold = approx. 2 to 2.5 million unique Move users in 2.5 months.

That's strange. Your comment implies that you COULDN'T care less about achievements, but you say you COULD care less. I'm baffled!

Six years in development and insane God-like hype will do that for any game. It may not be as good as Forza Motorsport 3, but it's still a great game for any racing fan.

It's funny when people compare Kinect's sales to Move, when people are going to buy more than one Move controller. Move sales will always be inflated because of that. 2.5 million Kinect sales means it is in 2.5 million unique customers' hands. 2.5 million sales for Move means it is in maybe 1 to 1.5 million unique customers' hands.

From my experience on this site, the definition of trolling appears to be saying anything that could be considered even remotely negative toward Sony or the PS3, even if you are simply stating facts. Everything else is fair game.

My first thought was "Hey, didn't I play that game almost a year ago? And didn't I get to import my save data from the first Mass Effect, which is an essential part of the experience?" But then again, that's just me...

And the PS3 fans are always the first ones to show up in Kinect articles, it seems. N4G is a strange place.

The PS3 has sold more than 4 times as many units in Japan as the 360 has, so you'd think Move numbers would be a lot higher than two times as many as Kinect. Plus the Move sales will always be inflated because people buy extra controllers. You don't buy anything extra with Kinect, so the numbers are a better picture of how many unique customers actually bought it.

Technically Kinect could be a bigger hit in Japan, but there's no way we can see how many unique cust...

You'd have to be a fanboy for that thought to even enter your mind.

What score would a game have to get for IGN to be "pleased" with it? "8.0 - Impressive" sounds pretty pleased to me.

4916d ago 3 agree0 disagreeView comment

Two different reviewers. That explains it all. Not all of IGN's reviews are written by the same person. You know that, right?

2 million? The lowest its ever been is a 3 million gap between shipped units, 4 million gap between sold units. And now the 360 is pulling ahead with incredibly strong Kinect sales.

Here's what people think:

360 fanboys: Harsh reality
PS3 fanboys: Unfair judgement
Normal gamers: Harsh reality

Early rushed reviews might offer higher scores because the game is still brand new and fresh to the reviewer. If they play it a few weeks before reviewing it, it might get a lower score because they'll be tired of it by that time.

Did I read this right? Are PS3 fans now resorting to these supposed "360 fanboy tactics" of using sales numbers as a measure of quality. I never thought I'd see the day!
