Am I the only one who just didn't find Dead Space scary? I keep hearing all the time that it's the "new king of survival horror" but I wasn't scared once throughout the entire thing. It was so predictable and the atmosphere just wasn't creepy. Playing through with a pistol was cake too, so I don't get the survival part either...
Anyway, I throw my vote in for Silent Hill 2 as well.
Great list. Maybe I'm biased, but I would have put DKC higher. ;)
I just knew there was going to be a comment like that, hah.
You created one hell of a masterpiece.
I own the SF Anniversary Collection and Jedi Academy, I had no idea they were rare or even valuable (Hell, I bought a copy of SF Anniversary Collection a little over a year go for $20 new).
Man, this article is a nostalgia machine. lol
I personally think the RE1 remake topped RE2. The atmosphere is so intoxicating.
I remember getting a Charizard for the first time, my head almost exploded.
I'm half and half. I like playing easier games when narrative is the most important aspect and I'm much more focused on the story than the gameplay. I don't want to get stuck on something overly hard, take a break, and forget what I was doing. For games that are lighter on story, I play those for the challenge. Killzone 2 for example, I played it on Veteran my first time through and I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as I had without a little challenge.
Ironically, LOST: Via Domus did this as well. Every time you complete a chapter, it would show you the EXACT same thing you JUST did, and its not skippable. UGH
It's one of the most consistent shooters ever made. It's just so solid, and the combat is addicting. Fantastic game for sure.
When a tree falls in the middle of a forest and no one is around - does it make a sound? All valid questions.
Do you get shot at the end of the night while leaving a nightclub? Potentially dying like one as well? Just wondering.
lol Sympathy of the Night sounds like an escort service. I think you mean Symphony of the Night ;)
As long as they:
1. Do not apply any of the terrible retconning from the rest of the FF7 "series".
2. Hire competent voice actors that do not ruin characters.
3. Try their best to retain the same atmosphere as the source material (I.E. keeping the music relatively the same, and replicating the old pre-rendered backdrops in super sexy 1080p [I have no idea how I feel about the game being in full 3D, however, I'm not sure they have a choice])
4. Don't ch...
Street Fighter III: Third Strike IMO
It's certainly a great game. XBLA/PSN releases would definitely get my (second) purchase.
They'll find a reason to "justify" their reasoning. If I remember correctly, BioShock wasn't even criticized for having no adversarial multiplayer, which many games need to be up to "industry standards"...
Some of these are just bad (moral choices? No thank you. Leave VATs to Fallout, plox). A few of the others I wouldn't be surprised to see, since they seem like natural progressions for the series.
directing the flashlight with the wiimote has always been a fantasy of mine. This is going to be freaking awesome.
