I found the best way to fight a Thunderjaw was the shadow rope-caster and when disabled (you have just seconds) to rapidly switch to sling and sharp-shot arrows. If you can target the heart then the fight will be over fairly quickly, however that is a big "if". In the wilds, it is safer to either override (need to complete Zeta cauldron for Thunderjaw) or set traps and snipe but be ready to run.

Actually on the hardest difficulty fighting pretty much any of the m...

If you compare the melee combat of HZD to NioH then there is no comparison, but even in NioH if there are more than two enemies or a large and or powerful monster then run away, snipe and if possible back-stabbing (Ninja skill) are the safest solutions. When facing a boss or even bosses in NioH then running away is not an option.

IMHO melee combat is HZD is what I would call a "last resort" and you should concentrate on setting traps, overriding or long-distance ...

There are plenty of games that have melee.

1. Dragon's Dogma (@st_vex) - Climbing on an enemy is awesome but most of those escort missions do spoil the game.

2. The Souls/Borne games - enough said.

3. NioH - High, medium and low stances coupled with five different weapons (discounting rifles and bows) with the ability to customise (see blacksmith) their attributes and actions. Also, you can learn Ninja and Onmyo skills.

In The Witcher 3, it pays to be a "gourmet" when you first upgrade your stats otherwise you will go through a lot of "food". 😃 hint!

I do think The Witcher 3 is an excellent game, however, like Skyrim and quite a few other games you can change your difficulty level on the fly which IMHO actually spoils the games.

When playing The Witcher 3 it is best to choose the hardest difficulty since that forces you to get familiar and making with Decoctions, Potions, and Oils as well as getting smiths to manufacture weapons and armour. Now to be fair if you choose to play this game at the highest difficulty it will...

I am still waiting for the "Toaster" and "Fridge" editions of Skyrim. 😄

@ApocalypseShadow

Nice sarcasm! 👍

You did forget six-axis detection. Sure that feature is not used in that many games although without that feature you would have difficulty in some of the timed trials of Gravity Rush 1 and 2. Actually you can use the six-axis feature when entering data in some games and also in some PS4 menus.

I have only played one game (PS3) that actually gave me RSI and that dubious distinction goes to "Tails of Xilla" which was kind of annoying since I actually liked that game. I have also tried to play "Tails of Berseria" on my PS4 and started to run into the same problem.

I don't have any issue playing the Souls/Borne games nor do I have a problem with Horizon Zero Dawn (hardest mode) and NioH. So for me, the problem was not the controller (i.e. Dua...

When the world is in the middle of a pandemic then it makes perfect sense to socially distance and webcam family gatherings are an excellent way of preventing the spread of the virus.

In Australia, the government listened to the Doctors and Scientists and we have a death toll of about 100 (it's also flu season since we are approaching winter). If you wish to contrast that to the USA then multiply 100 by 13.2, or if you want to contrast that with the UK then multiply 100...

I have always adopted the attitude of if you don't need something at the moment then switch it off or remove it.

I was looking a getting a decent webcam with built-in mic for Zoom conferences with the immediate family since here in Australia we are socially distancing due to the Virus. I found that most stores had sold out of webcams and those that were available were marked up ridiculously and I refuse to support that kind of extortion.

To get aroun...

In principle, I would agree, however, you would need a display device (TV or monitor) that has a refresh rate of 144 Hz or better and considering that "most" domestic TV's have refresh rates of 60 Hz then most game developers would target 60 fps for faster-paced games rather than framerates above 60 fps.

While I would agree that 4K is now the preferred resolution, 8K is now available although it is expensive, however, one feature I do find very nice is HDR (Hi...

You can get 2.1 and even 5.1 sound systems for very much less than USD$300 that are quite impressive and surprisingly easy to setup. Even "soundbars" (2.1 and 5.1 or better) are relatively cheap and are very compact. Of course, you could also go for 7.1 headphones for less than USD$100 or (shock horror) earbuds which you can plug directly into your dual shock controller.

Note1: The PS4 by default comes with a mono earbud which supports voice chat and recognition. ...

Sega (Genesis/Mega Drive) came out with one in 1994 and IMHO it was a more sophisticated game than the SNES one although I actually prefered the simpler SNES version.

I have the PS3 version of Dark Souls and if the article is true I will definitely be bookmarking the remastered edition (I have DS2 and DS3), now all I need is the PS4 remaster of Demons Souls with a "new?" sever.

For players who have never played a Souls game and are interested. Play Dark Souls 2 (it is fairly cheap) first since it eases you into the gameplay but it can punish you if you are not willing to learn from your mistakes. Hint. Early in the game (Forest...

The first sentence of the article is. "Sony’s range of PlayStation 4 hardware is so loud it could be considered a public disturbance. "

I have a 4.5-year-old PS4 that is connected to my LG 31.5" HDR 4K monitor and it is very quiet especially when you consider it is less than 1 meter (approx 1 yard) from my ears. Maybe my PS4 is the exception but if you care to look at why some PS4's are noisy the majority are overheating (hence higher speed fans) due to ...

Personally I could not get into 10-2 (still have the game) and I could say the same for FF15 although it is still on my to-do list. I have liked all the FF games from 4 onwards although I have yet to play 9 (go figure).

I will definitely give you kudos for "Kingdoms of Amalur". IMHO that was a really good game, it is a pity that the developer went out of business. Of course, the Witcher 3 is IMHO a classic but I do strongly suggest playing the game on the hardest ...

No! Try playing Final Fantasy IV, V, and then VI.

All the Final Fantasy games are good although they do have their strengths and weaknesses.

I don't know if you have been watching but PS+ has provided a wide collection of single-player (some with online features) games over the last year. In fact, I have so many "free" and IMHO quite good single-player games from PS+ that I have a hard time playing them all since most single-player games that I like are either action-adventure (e.g. Uncharted 1,2 and 3) or RPG's (e.g. Bioshock: The Collection, Nioh, The Last of Us Remastered, Conan Exiles, The Surge). For more in...

It would be nice to have Horizon Zero Dawn run at 60 fps rather than 30 fps for the PS4 (yes I am also including the Pro as well). Having said that one feature of HZD is the fact that it also supports HDR so no matter if you have a base PS4 or the PS4pro if you output to a decent 4K HDR display then HDR will be implemented.

My base PS4 will detect my LG HDR 4K 31.5" monitor detects HDR automatically (e.g. HZD) or prompt me to allow HDR (e.g. Final Fantasy XV) which is ...

I definitely liked "Champions of Norrath" and I still have the PS2 game although I would have to dust off my original PS3 to play it (it still works). Unfortunately, the online part of the game is unavailable but the single-player part is IMHO great.

As for saying "Champions of Norrath" is "still the greatest hack and slash RPGs ever made" (never played the sequel so I can't comment) it always has to be remembered that over time newer games...
