None of the places I shop at ever has a problem selling 360's. Since the holiday sales ended, 360 stocks have fallen back to their pre-Christmas levels. That means retailers managed to sell a LOT of units over the holidays.

but not PS3 games. I wonder why??

And this why 720p60 is always going to beat out 1080p30.

and here I thought we were going to be getting some new cheap games based on Kelloggs licensed characters similar to the Burger King games. :-(

Zelda, Excite Truck and Rayman Rayving Rabbids are three that are worth owning a Wii for. Elebits and Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz are also going to sell well, IMO. The kids will go for the cartoon adaptations of Spongebob and Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy and the animated film based titles like Cars and Happy Feet. It's hard to pick out any game from the Wii launch lineup and say "This is a truly awful game" or "This one will NEVER sell", although some people are h...

about Sony not being against porn on Blu Ray are bullsh1t. It clearly states here that Sony will not allow their mass duplication service to be used for such content. Although they may not be outright banning other duplication services from reproducing porn discs, I am sure they are making their desire to keep porn off the medium known to those companies who bought duplication technology from them. No company making a living off of Sony technology is going to risk throwing their livelihood an...

had to give the fanboys some good news sooner or later. Let's hope this isn't the only good news.

They would be foolish to release before Sony has enough consoles out there to justify the expense, which they won't have by late 07 if they keep selling at their current slow rate.

this is the kind of the thing that will sell systems in Japan.

it's a UNIVERSAL remote. Any universal remote can be made to work with any device if you know what code to put in. Instead of creating their own instruction set for the 360, they probably used one from another manufacturer or at least made their own partially compatible with another manufacturer. It's like in the early days before printers and modems were standardized and other makers began using the Hayes and Epson command sets in their devices because it was easier than creating their own. ...

I was looking forward to PS3 for a long time until they announced the price and that they were forcing that damn Blu Ray drive onto us. If they had released in February with a DVD player instead of Blu Ray, which they could easily have done, I would probably have one by now instead of a 360 and a Wii.

Sony invents a format and then claims they have no control over licensing issues?? Come on. The whole purpose of inventing it was to milk content providers for licensing fees.

So....what incentive do I have to buy Madden 08 when I can just update the rosters on 07??? That is the whole reason why sports games drop to $2 so quickly, because they go out of date. Prolonging the life of old sports titles digs into the sales of the latest editions.

480i SDTV and 480p EDTV are more than sufficient. 720p/1080i/1080p HDTV would be overkill and expensive to implement. Those resolutions would require a lot more graphics power than Wii currently has to juggle all those pixels without lagging. Wii is still a fun system to play on even if the graphics haven't kept up. Innovation is the key word with Wii.

Wii is here to stay, like it or not. At worst, they will finish 2nd. They will not be dead last this time. That honor belongs to PS3.

that HD-DVD actually has MORE studio support than Blu Ray. More than 41, YES, 41 content providers making HD-DVD movies. Not just Universal like the Blu Ray fanbots like to keep saying.

has to average nearly 25 million a year for the next 3 years to hit that number. PS2 is only averaging 18-19 million a year over it's entire life. No way is PS3 going to top PS2 sales figures with that price and the bad perception the public has of Sony right now.

when I can buy a 20gb PS3 $500 and a Toshiba HD-DVD player $500=$1000. I can get 7 or 8 movies with that extra $200 and play PS3 games when they are released.

that developers go ahead and release for the system with the smallest install base before then. When a dev spends millions on a game they need to release it to a big audience, which PS3 just doesn't have right now. Look at GoW. GoW has 3 million sales in a base of 10 million consoles. That is 30% attach rate. We already know that PS3 games need 500,000 sales to be profitable. Even assuming that the 2 million number that the fanboys like to keep tossing around is true, that is a 25% attach rat...

because they want the ebayers to build up the hype for PS3 in Europe by charging outragous prices for them. They know that a large number of those that have pre-orders in already are going to be ebay scalpers, so very few of the pre-order units will be going directly to gamers.
