I think the best imitators are yet to come, I have very high hopes for Nioh, The Surge (despite Lords of the Fallen being pretty mediocre) and Eitr.

Nioh borrows more heavily from Dark Souls more than any other game I've seen, other than perhaps Salt and Sanctuary. That said, the second demo/beta was as good as any game I've played this year, including Dark Souls 3. I can't wait to play the full game.

Personally, I will buy Dreams day one. The potential for artistic types is pretty amazing. The ability to export your creations to photoshop means if you are skilled/dedicated illustrator, Dreams could theoretically be a tool that you could potentially earn money from.

I will buy PSVR for Dreams if the creation engine is as robust as it appears now. For me Dreams is PSVR's "killer app."

If Dreams is more of an "app" than a game, I...

This is possibly the first time ever I have put nearly 20 into a demo. I love the game and I can't wait for full release. That said, if you don't like Dark Souls/Bloodborne, you aren't going to like Nioh.

Easily the best 6 out of 10 game I've ever played. I have at least 15 people on my friends list playing this very moment. There are around 40 people on said list that are playing nearly every day. Nearly every gamer I know personally is playing and talking about it every day. All of us are over 20 hours...I'm probably around 45 hours in. It's top 5 on Twitch.

Yet, I come to N4g and get flooded with articles about how it's such a terrible game, and nobody lik...

"Once the hype boils out I'm sure everyone will agree that this game doesn't belong in the ranks of AAA."

Counter-argument:

Once all the hate from people who haven't actually played the game or bought it without understanding what the game was, everyone left will agree that No Man's Sky is a landmark game that will alter the course of gaming going forward. It will receive numerous updates (probably including multiplayer -for bett...

Don't know about "most important game ever made," but it is utterly amazing. You can't really grasp why it is so special until you are playing it. It will definitely have a massive impact on the industry.

The whole game can be played offline...so, hopefully, even if there are issues, you could still play on day one.

Driveclub and the Order 1886 were way better than the general public would have you believe, especially at under $15. And if you count console exclusives Soma and Transistor should be high on the list.

same here...last game was Bloodborne

Well this is refreshing. I came to this comment section expecting to see trolls, ignorance, and a bunch of people who can't imagine playing a game without co-op, hand-holding or a story. I had a feeling that this would be the trailer that started to shift the public's perception on this game. It's nice to not feel like I'm in a very small minority of people that can't wait for this game to come out. I'm sure there will be 20 more "Why No Man's Sky will suck&qu...

My girlfriend and I, and a couple of friends are all going to start the game at the same time. We will record our progress through videos and screenshots and all race to the center of the galaxy, each of us will (hopefully) have a completely unique experience and maybe there is the tiniest chance that at the center we might even find each other after 40-100 hours (from what the devs say). Even if we never find each other the challenge of trying to do something that is nearly impossible sounds...

I'm a little annoyed that like 50% of the "articles" and comments I've seen about the game, the writer is either being willfully antagonistic or frustrating ignorant about the game.

"...so far the gameplay seems to comprise solely of flying to a planet, discovering said planet and all lifeforms on it, then moving on. Lather and repeat."

Nope.

No Man's Sky is a survival game. In order to even see a planet,...

I am very aware of what the game is and isn't (at least from the information available) and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

forgot about Nier...can't wait for that one. I was in 2 betas for Tomorrow Children...it was very confusing...like something I would need to watch youtube videos on first before I could play. However, given that the PixelJunk people are involved, I assume it will be very strange and very addictive.

They showed a big feature about it at the playstation experience in dec 2015 i believe, but yeah, nothing but silence since then.

Great list. Mine would have to include Persona 5, Nioh, Dreams, Mass Effect Andromeda, Ni No Kuni 2, Detroit, Deus Ex, Gravity Rush 2 and The Wild. A few of these would be very very high on said list.

Maybe, but as a 35 year old, I personally am thrilled with video games right now. I actually quite like games that are rich in narrative and story with decent acting and writing. I like the spectacle, the graphics, and the immersion.

Gameplay may not be everyone's priority, but it is still readily available. As others have mentioned, Japanese games in particular still offer some great AAA gameplay. There are plenty of examples of AAA games where gameplay is still value...

I respect people's opinions to the contrary on NMS, but to say that all you do is walk around and look at stuff is just being misinformed or antagonistic. The theme/genre is just as much about survival as it is exploration. Virtually everyone who has reported on it has said as much. It's also an RPG with a leveling system.

This game is going to both disappoint and surprise people. There is a lot of information about it, but it seems like two-thirds of the people th...

To early to tell maybe? I saw nothing in the trailer that made me think it was Prey until they showed the title. I'm pretty curious if it will have the shifting rooms and stuff that made the original one well...original. If not...the trailer looked great, and I look forward to playing it.
