They DO NOT count as movies sold since they are inculded inside the box they won't show up on NDP.
Also if you read these post here much you will have read how more and more software houses are being hard pressed to make their games FIT on DVD9 format. This is not a problem with the PS3 and blu-ray and I only see games getting bigger and more complex, not smaller.
I think its a good move with Sony attempting to raise awareness that the PS3 CAN play HD Blu-Ray movies. I think most people know it can play games :P
Maybe like Best Buy did with the HD-DVD add on list week. Three free boxed sets with the drive, you get to pick.
I had not entended to get TimeShift, but the demo was pretty good. It may have just earned a sale :)

2 of the 3 above play just fine on the PC, no heatbox needed.
PS2 has been a stellar console. The Xbox 360 took over 18 months on the market to finally pass PS2 sales back in July of this year (just three months ago)
People should also research the writers - google is a wonderful thing. Blake Snow has several articles on GamePro and his track record is 1 Sony bash and a couple of Xbox praise. Per his blog comments "Get controversial with your writing and state a formulated opinion. Be snarky, push buttons, and get facetious when applicable."

Also Sony does have a High Def video player INCLUDED in the price, add another $170 in addition to the wifi adapter to get equal value on the Xbox.

The 190k for Transformers is movies shipped to retail, NOT sold, but Paramount made a simple mistatement of the facts. The NPD numbers for Transformers were well under 100k and yes, Spiderman DID sell more.
