Answer the question! Is this guy running for office or something?

DODGE - "First, I would say we absolutely would not want to trade places with Sony," said Aaron Greenberg.

DUCK - "We feel confident that we're delivering great value,"

IGNORE - "I would rather talk about why you should buy our console than why you shouldn't buy the competitor's system."

With PC Blu-ray drives selling for as low as $69.00 and going lower I don't see where that is a problem. Sony just doesn't want to lose $$ on PS3 sales with a big price cut since they know their cost to build will continue to drop. Now as far as the 360, yes they are outselling the PS3 since their price cut. Prior to that sales were on par and beginning to favor the PS3 and I think the 360 price cut was due to panic on their part. My quetion is how much money is M$ loosing on a 360 that they ...

Obama loves our troops so much he couldn't wait to get back home and skip his scheduled visit to the hospital. He wants to end the war now, win loose or draw dispite what has been sacrificed by the troops. All I can say is I'm glad we haven't finished a new World Trade Center and have no other skyscrapers so when the war moves from there to here...oh...wait...

HD-DVD had a number of titles inculding their #1 title Transformers on sale with a buy one/get one free sale. Next week will be interesting as neither group is having a sale.

Ho-Hum, another small store owner that wants to stay small. I have the same problem with a Gamestop near me. I bought a few titles from them until I heard one of the clerks pushing the 360 on someone that was interested in buying a PS3. They lost a customer in me as I'll never go back there. I'll just support Best Buy and Amazon, you would expect them to know beter.

If you go with VGCharts numbers then YES Sony is correct 100% on what they said. What is interecting is if you look at the 360's sales over the same period did they increase or stay on par with the PS3 increase? Lets look at the numbers over the timeframe posted in the story.

Well on the week ending the 3rd November, VGChartz lists the PS3 as selling 55,000 in the US. Comparing to their forecast of this weeks s...

Well, it could be because WAL-MART had a PS3 bundle this weekend with 10 FREE Blu-Ray movies. Even if you didn't want the movies for yourself, most people I know have a ebay account to sell them.

So Amazon with 5 free movies at the same price of WAL-MART or WAL-MART with 10 extra free movies (15 total). LET ME THINK.... :)

The fact is that low cost HD-DVD players don't really help the HD-DVD camp. RE: the BIG Wal-Mart sale and yet the number of HD-DVD VS BLU-RAY disc fell again last month. If you can only afford to spend $98 dollars for a player, then how many MOVIES can you buy at $30 each?

I’m sure the low cost players are welcomed by the rental centers since that’s where 54,990 of the 55,000 new HD-DVD owners will be heading. Great for them, but not much help in the format wars for the HD-DVD ...

And who's paying for all that extra connectivity? What incentive does the studio have to add this? I'm sure tracking the viewers viewing habits and has some appeal to them, but without ads there is not going to be much extra free stuff added and do I REALLY want ads with my movies?

NDP doesn't release hard numbers (I'll like to see them too) but only the ratio of sales. Last week was 65% Blu-Ray vs 35% HD-DVD and that just happens to be the yearly avarages (weekly milage does vary).

The good news is the Blu-Ray winning streak just keeps on going in outselling HD-DVD media week after week after week. Makes it easy to keep track, weeks where HD-DVD outsold Blu-Ray in 2007 = ZERO (0).

There are >>20<< companies involved INCLUDING Sony in the HD-DVD committee and this is just an approval of the format. How, when, and if they are going to mass produce them is still a big unknown. How it will affect the percent of failures is still unknown since by adding a layer they have increased the number of times they have to “roll” to get a winner by 33%.

It’s so comforting to know that HD-DVD has this “finished” (but constantly changing) specification unlik...

The point being if you can only afford to wait in line to get a $99 player how are you going to afford the movies for the player?

Unless you primarly rent movies how can you justify HD media when it is on avarage 50% higher for the same movie than DVD? I've not seen ANY HD media in the 2 for $10 at Wal-Mart bin.
