I am not a fan of COD so I'd like to see Sony make a better shooter but that's probably not likely and extremely unlikely they could create anything that comes close to COD in terms of revenue generated.

If the Microsoft ABK takeover is blocked I won't shed a tear as I could see a successful takeover make Microsoft lazy and complacent with other potential negative effects.

Not every game has to be as good as the game or franchise that inspired it.

The bigger problem I find is that I get burned out on the game that inspired the later game then I have no desire to play the later game, for example I couldn't stand Back 4 Blood as it just seemed inferior to Left 4 Dead and I can't bring myself to play Left 4 Dead 1 or 2 as I played way too much of both and not even mods make me want to play either again.

Companies file patents all the time, doesn't necessarily mean said patent will lead to anything and is often just companies hedging bets in case something takes off.

I would not be surprised if SE had a hand in influencing Sony as SE seem very invested in using web3.0 to milk as much money out of gamers as possible.

If we do see NFTs in games it's pretty simple in that we just don't buy said NFTs and if the game is unplayable or crippled witho...

I'd much rather a new game then an action orientated Code Veronica remake. Any remake would likely remove a lot of what made Code Veronica unique.

Probably because people are hoping FFXVI takes the series back to its glory days and there's some whitewashing of history going on.

FXIII was a good game but depending on your idea of what constituted a good FF game it could be fairly judged as a terrible FF game.

Crystal Tools was a mess so it was a case of engine tech limitations dictating how the game was designed. Once you got to the later open area performance really suffered and the FXIII sequels had awful performance in some areas.

Microsoft is buying developers and publishers because developers and publishers won't sign timed exclusivity for big AAA games because of Microsoft's market share of last and current gen consoles combined and Microsoft want to have content to drive Game Pass as a service.

Given Sony's dominant console market position they don't have to buy developers/publishers because they can cut a deal and developers/publishers will be happy they're still accessing a sufficient percentage of the total console userbase.

I wouldn't do a timed exclusivity if I owned a developer or publisher with Microsoft not because Xbox sucks or PS5 is much better but because it'd mean missing out on a lot of potential sales.

Sony are in a dominant market position so it would be very expensive in the long run for Microsoft to buy timed exclusivity for big AAA games. Many developers and publishers wouldn't even consider timed or permanent exclusivity for Xbox because of the amount of money they'd loose out on for not having their games on PS consoles.

Microsoft is running their business how they see fit and Sony is doing the same.

The scattergun approach Microsoft is in...

Hypocrites cry it's anti-competitive when Microsoft does timed exclusives but say it's great for games and gamers when Sony does it. But of course Sony are the little underdog with a dominant market position and totally don't have a well documented history of anti-competitive tactics like Microsoft.

Sometimes developers just don't have the resources to put out a game simultaneously on all platforms so sometimes a deal makes sense. I can't see how a devel...

I think Sony were more concerned about exploits in a web browser being used to jailbreak the console or achieve other unwanted outcomes so they chose not to include a browser or make one installable.

It really depends on what you're after in a console.

The PS5 has better exclusive games to date but the Xbox Series has Gamepass and the backwards compatibility with many games back to the original Xbox days is really nice.

Really makes me wish the PS5 had backwards compatibility with the PS3 for those niche games that have yet to be remastered/remade for the PS4/PS5, hopefully the PS6 has backwards combability with PS3 games and because the PS3 was r...

It's best to have no expectations when it comes to Konami and be pleasantly surprised if they deliver something good.

I'm not a fan of any particular Konami IP but it seems they don't respect the IPs they own nor the people who created said properties so it's no surprise they're outsourcing development to third parties. All the formerly good internal talent is likely long gone.

343i will be a lose cause until they get someone competent to lead development and give that person the necessary authority and creative control to see a game through to completion. All the 343i games have had troubled development cycles but unlike Bungie of old they can't crunch at the end of the development cycle and deliver a complete game.

Assuming your assumption that Microsoft don't know how to lead studios (fyi studio leads/heads do that) is correct then it makes even more sense for Microsoft to buy existing studios and publishers.

I don't necessarily think this merger would be a win/win for Microsoft/ABK. ABK has their own problems and as much as I dislike Kotick as a human being you can't deny he has delivered for shareholders in the past.

The attempt to make side stories to mainline FF games was another lazy idea by SE to maximise profits while expending fewer resources.

FFX-2 was a good game and I liked the combat system it didn't have the replayability of prior mainline titles. The comedic nature of the characters and story meant I didn't feel as invested in the game world.

Those games don't have to be innovate or be great games. The Ultimate Team Mode in FIFA makes more money then Elden Ring.

Football (Soccer) is the most popular sport in the world and while console fanbois might think the games aren't system sellers if the FIFA games were available on PS5 OR Xbox Series but not both a lot of players would buy the console platform that FIFA was available on.

This article completely misses part of the appeal of the original iteration of character in the original game trilogy. It was the Chief and Cortana vs an entire alien collective. The blank slate Bungie displayed in their games was genius, he was an mysterious hero a wide audience could identify with because he wasn't as clearly defined as most characters.

The books added a lot of lore and backstory but most Halo players just want a fun game with exposition that doesn...

You're clearly ignorant of the industry if you think Sony platforms not having access to ActBlizz and Bethesda games is ideal.

It would be unwise for Microsoft to not make future instalments of existing franchises with large fanbases on Playstation like the Elder Scrolls games available on Playstation. It would result in the franchises selling less and make the IP less valuable while also giving Sony's first, second and third party developers a chance to fill the vo...
