Sadly the days of having complete and functional games on physical disc are mostly gone.

Xbox's smart delivery means that if you have a crossgen game the default install is often the XBO version and you have to download extra data or the game in its entirety on the XS consoles to get the XOX or Xbox Series S/X enhanced version.

Sony took the other route of having different physical releases for some PS4/PS5 games but this comes with its own issues. ...

FFXIII is a good game but would have been better if so much energy didn't have to be spent wrangling with the Crystal Tools engine, it holds up better technically then the other Final Fantasy games developed on the Crystal Tools engine and is a better game to boot.

The game design makes sense when you play the later games where performance really struggled under the weight of trying to offer more ambitious and dense areas.

Hopefully SE get their tech ...

I wouldn't expect a VR game to have a similar amount of content to a regular mainline game. The Userbase of PSVR2 is tiny and Sony can only invest so much in each title as the small userbase means there's not much revenue to be had best case scenario. I can see the validity in the argument that the $60/$70 price point is out of necessity rather then purely greed.

As a complete package VR has always struggled to offer sufficient value to be appealing to a mass audien...

The management at SE just don't get it do they. Adding blockchain into their games is going to add little to nothing in terms of value to their games for gamers.

On the upside if management continues to be so inept they may damage the company to the point it is acquired by Sony, Sony then fires the entire board + upper management and restructures the company and hopefully we get a Legend of Dragoon 2 and other competently developed games.

I think all three still appreciate creative but Microsoft are the worst at it by a longshot but there are some bright spots like Hi-Fi Rush.

The AAA space is very risk averse given the size of budgets involved which is why indie games tend to be more creative and often more interesting.

If anyone does buy SE they need to clear house when it comes to management. Utterly useless and the company's lack of focus comes from the top down.

The corporate suits have always been in control at SE, its why the company can't come close to competing with the output of Square which was a collection of talent united around their vision of making great games.

Management want exponential growth but SE has struggled with tech for some time now and anyone that has followed their games through the years would know this.

The timed exclusive deal with Microsoft for Tomb Raider was very dumb when Tomb R...

@DivineHand125

It is not user replaceable in any event which is the same suboptimal situation as these SSDs will wear out in time.

It's good they're continuing to improve the game but for many former Halo fans myself included, it's too little, too late.

When games were fun progression systems were nice but not necessary.

Now we have by the numbers experiences in many games and developers add progression systems in the form of battle passes and other mechanics to draw players into hopefully spending more time playing and spending more money.

To their credit this is one area where Sony has been pretty fair compared to the plethora of predatory systems out there but how long will that last when crap like FI...

There's no redeeming Halo Infinite. First impressions matter for live service games when the first impression was as poor as it has been for Halo Infinite. 343i have failed multiple times to reinvent or develop a game that appeals to fans of the classic series so I have little faith in them doing so now.

Halo Infinite was like going to a restaurant where you'd had good full-course meals in the past and being told you get a free entrée (multiplayer) but the comp...

Not just Japan, around the globe companies in many fields are trying to increase prices and keep prices higher for longer before discounting. It's possible monthly PS5 sales will decrease once users who waited years to buy a PS5 but were unable to buy one are finally able to buy a console.

If the economy gets worse and countries go into recession we could see console sales not accelerate as in the past. I guess we'll see just how recession proof or not gaming is.

It won't be a lack of content that hurts the current gen consoles but if prices on the consoles themselves don't drop significantly over time and the troubling economic times we're headed for.

With the cost of living going up and interest rates increasing people don't have the disposable income they once had which means less console and software sales which means less economies of scale and less ability to lower prices.

At this point in time the only way I could see Capcom taking a risk with a new IP that is not very by the numbers would be if a platform holder, probably Sony jointly funded development but Capcom probably wouldn't do that as it would limit potential revenue.

The fixed camera system is one of the things that made the classic RE games including Code Veronica so tense, I just don't get that when playing later third person RE games, they're tense just in a different way. Operation Raccoon City was mediocre and I'd be surprised if Capcom did a remake.

I'd love another Dino Crisis game.

Obviously it works because people keep buying these remakes.

I don't think it is a boon at all for Microsoft in the long run.

Many consumers would rather spend the money they would have spent on an expansion card on a PS5 instead.

441d ago 3 agree2 disagreeView comment

Your games would have been "dumbed down" in any event to be accessible by the majority of the PC userbase as many PC users are running specs lower then the PS5 and XS. Microsoft and Sony need to drop their anti-competitive parity clauses and also Microsoft needs to drop parity clauses for the XS.

Most modern western game engines are highly scalable and this is one area Japanese game engines have struggled by comparison which is why you see so many poorly optimised...

While Microsoft would have had some legitimate reasons for not going with an industry standard PCIe interface like reduced calls to support when people install an SSD with insufficient performance, they could gone with an industry standard PCIe interface and limit compatibility to certain SSDs that had been certified or have a benchmark that tested non-certified drives and told users whether it was suitable.

Consumers aren't helpless idiots and there's always Google...
