i disagree on mass effect, the first was a better rpg although mass effect 2 is good also.
I also enjoy both uncharted 1 and 2.
I get your point though, an improved sequal would be more impressive than a new ip. The developer would prove that its concepts are good and only needed more time instead of just scrapping the whole thing.
the challenge in R1 was knowing when to use it, because of how scarce the ammo was sometimes. On the higher difficulty levels if you waste it on normal enemies then you would be out of luck later on.
i am not a big fan of halo but that is very good work.

There were no core games besides gears/halo. The only games announced were for a peripheral which will be used by people who either pay 120-150 dollars or buy a console with it bundled.
even economically it's a bad move unless of course it captures the casual crowd like they expect.
i am now renting gears of war 3, no point in owning it now. dedicated or go home.
can't wait now, no more noobs hosting matches to pad their score/ego lol.

i hope its not a ff7 remake, its just taken so long i no longer want it. ff7 is one of my favorite games and there is no way to make a current gen version without being dissapointing.

letros is right, other 360's are host and are randomly chosen, its the sole reason gears has the term "host advantage" thrown around so much. If it was a dedicated server a third party machine(something that would legitimize $50/year) would host the match and connect everyone which would be the only thing it does.
When a 360 hosts the match it also has the player playing the console to calculate. Meaning a degraded experience for everyone besides host.
