I agree with some of these. It was incredible for its time. Had it been released today, it would probably get mixed opinions like FF13 does.

Obviously, there is a narrative. The game requires you to discover the story rather than be held by the hand. The stage demo was meant to show off mechanics unconventional, but refreshing, for a mainline Zelda game.

They are going back to the NES style Zelda games where there was no linear hand-holding. If there is no dungeon order, then they are taking a bit from A Link Between Worlds as well.
You're not being very specific. Of course we're talking about visuals, but different art choices doesn't mean one is better than the other. The examples you stated have a totally different art style, and they are not necessarily less outdated.

I guess it does promote better cooperation between players. I personally don't care for ranking per se, but I am a big fan of cosmetics. It offers incentive for both types of players.
