I firmly believe in trying a game for yourself and not caring what other people say about it in terms of your personal enjoyment.
That being said, the whole "this game that I like/want to like isn't bad - reviews are what's bad" narrative is BS. OF COURSE some people will love poorly reviewed games and hate well received ones. I can tell that a lot of people weren't around back in the day. I had to save up $79.99 plus tax to buy The Adventures of Bayou Billy on my Nintendo... SIX months after release. The regular price for Super NES games was $69.99. Game prices have actually gone DOWN over the years.
Besides that, game length, content, and replayability are not directly proportionate to price in most cases. I've spent four hours on full priced releases, but I also put 3600 hours into SOCOM...

Definitely play it and see if you enjoy it on your own terms - if you like a game, who cares if somebody else does or doesn't? Reviews only give you an idea of what other people feel about a product, but as always, your mileage may vary.

This reviewer's justification for the score was that the game was boring. To me, and a lot of other gamers, fun is what drives us to play games. If we're not having fun, then the graphics could look lifelike and the controls could be as smooth as butter from Shaft's cow, but it won't be something that we want to play.
Gamepro had it right back in the day - they scored games in several different categories (graphics, gameplay etc)...

I don't mind 720p games at all if they look good and the devs use tricks to eliminate some of the problems with the "lowered" resolution. I have the Xbox One Battlefield 4 and the jaggies can be terrifying in some places. Honestly, the Hardline beta looks about the same as BF4, which isn't great.
No. Censorship is government imposed. So until you see Anita saying "hey government, ban these games or make laws so that companies cannot make them", then it remains criticism, and valid criticism at that.
One of my favorites is the first level of One on PlayStation. The helicopter shooting at you while you're running through the building was awesome.
