Wait and save up for Series X... S isn't the one.
So that Golem guy was talking nonsense saying PS5 was running it at 1080p...
The game will likely be Native 4K/60fps without RT too!
PS5 will end with 140 million sales before PS6 releases, better than PS4 did (demand is so much higher and the tech is vastly superior) and PS2. *Edit* PS2 wasn't at 155 million when PS3 launched, but PS5 will be at 140 million when PS6 does!
As for Xbox Series family, it will end between 70 to 90 million (dependant on Series S demand) and it will be Xbox's last home consoles as they will go as a Games as a Service company completely with xCloud/GamePass.
"set up to be pretty substantial"
Considering every major 3rd party launching on PS5 and XSX are showing the exact same resolution and frame-rate, I can tell you this is nonsense.
Additionally, AMD has practically confirmed they will patch in a DLSS like tech into PS5 and XSX|S next year, confirming both Sony and Microsoft can get "GPU driver updates", unlike previous consoles (I believe PS4 Pro had an OpenGL driver update but could be wrong).
Those "only on Xbox RDNA2 features" are only on Xbox because DirectX is a Microsoft API.
PS5 will have those technologies in time, either when Sony improve their APIs (GNM, GNMX and...
Very misleading by Microsoft/Xbox. They claim "only consoles with full hardware RDNA2 features" but these HARDWARE features are enabled via DirectX12 Ultimate SOFTWARE, meaning PS5 can't use those features as DirectX is a Microsoft, SOFTWARE technology.
PS5 will support those features, either with those own versions of those technologies or if they adopt Vulkan API and AMD support that via a System update.
Totally believable, $230 for 1TB Samsung 980 Pro, half of that for $115 makes sense.
That Series S with RAM as slow as launch PS4 RAM... :/
¡Hala Madrid!
So that's the 3rd NVMe drive at the same price point as the propriety Xbox card... All 3, 3x faster, all fast enough for PS5.
Yeah, see how long this business model lasts giving games for $1 a month, see how many developers go under.
Ori devs have already abandoned Xbox to go multiplatform, only 2 million people downloaded Ori 2 from Game Pass, less than 25% of that 2 million even beat the game. Devs are slowly realising, if your game isn't a GAAS product, you'll be in a graveyard before you know it!
15 million people paying $15 per month = $2.8 billion in REVENUE, they ...
Probably the worst Game with Gold ever, clearly trying to stop the project, they want people to pay $15 a month for Game Pass Ultimate instead of $5 for Gold. I'd rather own my games than rent them.
Not a chance there is $72 worth of content there too, $35 would be pushing it.
No, it isn't expensive, it's extortionate!
PCIe 3.0 drives on PC with 3.5GB/s speeds are £100
Xbox/Seagate cards are only 2.4GB/s, £220.
Samsung 980 Pro, 7GB/s yet is £5 cheaper at £215!
Samsung announced the 980 Pro yesterday, hours after the shambolic price of the Xbox/Seagate cards was revealed (3-year warranty).
That Samsung 980 Pro 1TB... $230... 7GB/s drive + 5-year warranty.
Xbox PR = "$220 for 2.4GB/s drive, pretty pls!"
Samsung PR = "$230 for 7GB/s drive, enjoy!"
The markup by Xbox/Seagate is a disgrace, PCIe 3.0 drives are £100 at best, 2.4GB/s raw throughput and charging near 5GB/s prices. Shambles!
Sabrent 1TB Rocket Nvme PCIe 4.0 M.2 - Amazon = £170
5000 MB/s (read) and 4400 MB/s (write)
Xbox is a joke!
Only important specs;
GPU; XSS' 4 TFLOP/s + Weak RT vs PS5D's 10.3 TFLOP/s + Decent RT
CPU; XSS' 3.4 GHz w/ SMT (870.4 GFLOP/s) vs PS5D's 3.5GHz w/ SMT (896 GFLOP/s)
RAM; XSS' 8GB of weak RAM (224GB/s) + 2GB of ancient RAM (56GB/s) vs PS5's 16GB of Fast RAM (448GB/s).
Oh, BTW, the average speed of all 10GB of RAM in Xbox Series S is 190GB/s, almost as slow as PS4's RAM in 2013.
...
It's not;
Sea of Zzz - Released void of content and barely a game - Now littered with MTX.
State of Decay 2 - Broken mess.
Crackdown 3 - Very broken game, 4 devs worked on it.
Bleeding Edge - Void of content, less than 1,000 players on Xbox and PC in a week.
Minecraft Dungeons - Extremely short campaign for a game in that genre, 2 devs worked on it.
Grounded - Poor man's The Forest - beta release build.
Battletoa...
No surprise, the output of 1st party has been very sub-par, Battletoads just adding to that negative image of GamePass. Broken at launch, fix it later, GaaS is terrible for the industry, so glad that Nintendo and Sony haven't gone down that route.
5 selling points in a funny order and is really only 3, and not compelling selling points either.
1 - 50+ new games in the launch window, all on PC day 1 or before & most on Xbox One day 1 or before too.
2 & 4 - Game Pass PR.
3 & 5 - 40 old games fully upgraded for Xbox Series X, rest just standard BC.
Having no REAL exclusives or a single killer app is going to haunt Series X for the 1st year.
I see what you did there...
