I think the expansion pack is a year long sub.
If they keep this up, adding more “free” DLC behind the expansion pass like with Animal Crossing and MK8D, then the value will be worth it after a few more games. But we’re not there yet.
I really hope that people take note of the price for this. Nintendo is notorious for charging high prices for games/remakes/remasters, but this is the first time they’re releasing DLC that has enough content to be its own standalone game for only $25 (or giving it away free if you have the online expansion pack). This doesn’t cover up their other mistakes, but it’s a step in the right direction. I hope this sells well so Nintendo gets the hint.
This. I’m glad Nintendo didn’t do what they did to Zelda Skyward Sword. They released it right at the end of Wii’s life, so we couldn’t get stunning visuals of a Zelda game on WiiU for the systems launch. I would hate to see MK9 released at the end of Switch’s life right before new hardware came out. Now it can be a visually stunning launch title for Switch 2.
I was really put off at first because the NPCs weren’t Miis, but apparently custom characters are? That helped with the nostalgia factor. Can’t wait to go back to Wii bowling, this time in HD!
Wow. I finally got a prediction right. 😂
Okay… but what innovative pc came out 20 years ago that they’re comparing it to? 🤔
Twitter is screaming for Mario Kart 9, but wouldn’t it make more sense for Nintendo to release DLC for MK8D, wait two years, then release a visually stunning MK9 on Switch 2? Probably an unpopular opinion, but I would rather that happen.
Yep I’ve heard both rumors. We shall see. It’s been almost 3 years since 3H released. I would think that’s plenty of time to make another game (or two) using the same engine and a few re-used assets.
New Fire Emblem please and thanks.
@Zhipp According to Nvidia, Atlan is on track to release “in 2025 model year vehicles”, which means the cars will hit fall 2024, and be in production months before that. If Nintendo decides on a holiday 2024 release, they could theoretically also use a custom Atlan SoC in that same timeframe, but then again, it’ll be about price point for them. So we’ll see. I’ll hope for an Atlan SoC, but I won’t expect it.
Unfortunately you’re right. I’m starting to accept waiting another 3 years for a true successor as long as it means Nintendo skips over Nvidia’s Orin and goes with the even more powerful Atlan SoC, but I’m not holding my breath on that either.
Everyone says their smartphones and steam deck are more powerful than Switch. Yes, but remember price. Smartphones are upwards of $700 or more. Hence down payments followed by monthly payments. And steam deck, while lower in cost than smartphones (and launching 5 years later), will sell at a loss. Nintendo would be very unwise to take that route, as gaming is their only source of income, unlike Sony or Microsoft.
They’ve been saying this for almost 3 years now. I know for the sake of sales and investors they can’t say “it’s at the tail end” but still. Come on. Unless of course they plan on still manufacturing them for a few years even after the successor comes out.
Question of the year right here. I’m actually playing FE Heroes right now just to tide myself over until the next main FE game.
Switch will turn 5 in March. I’m kind of hoping Switch 2 will launch fall of 2024, so it can have Nvidia’s Atlan chip, but that’s just me.
I don’t know about Sony or MS, but Nintendo is having it’s biggest release year of core titles since since 2017.
Pokémon Arceus
Bayonetta 3
3D Kirby
Mario + Rabbids
Splatoon 3
BOTW 2
Now what does “biggest” mean here? Is it sales? Reviews? System sellers?…. File size? 😛
Top 5 achieved! I’m certain it will pass GB and PS4 to get #3 by the end of the year. But the top 2, DS and PS2, that all depends on price drops and when the Switch 2 is released. Also depends if they continue production of Switch after the next console’s launch.
Zerith Mortis, from what I’ve seen, seems to be another relentlessly long grind like Korthia. Now you even need to do dailies just to slowly learn the damn language. 😒
