seem to like it a lot.

folks who haven't seem to hate it.

i have a psp-1000 and i'd have to rate my umd's as
loco roco
lumines
everything else i got i didn't like. i pretty much used it to watch movies on the plane.

but it looks like some decent games finally. lbp, gt, motorstorm. so for me getting a psp go is an attractive option because i'm ready for some new games and like the enhanced portability. I already downloaded patapon in ant...

the 60GB euro and 80GB us models had software emulation for the emotion engine chip only. The Graphics Synthesizer chip was not emulated, those models actually had the hardware chip in them along with whatever else to support it hardware wise. I think I read it saved sony $27 per console to remove the GS Chip. 10 million consoles = $270 million saved off of unprofitable PS3 sales, which also meant people still buying PS2's at $129 and $99 a pop so figure an extra $100 - $200 million in profit...

the ps2 bc is just speculation. playstation insider didn't mention it. i don't know why ppl get their hopes up. i'm hopeful, but doubtful. well we'll find out in a week.

I agree with Ju ... sony has to fill the supply pipeline which doesnt happen instantly, there's a 60 day supply of ps3 fat's on the shelves ... the new slims have to go through customs ... you don't launch new product in August.

Most likely it will use the 45nm chips which started production in march or april. also included will be the slimmed down blu ray drive. Will power requm'ts be small enough to not need a power brick ... there will probably be an external power wart (not big enough to be called a brick).

I am happy they ditched the spiderman font and now it looks like an upgraded ps2slim which is a very smart move. The new packaging and design are more consistent with Playstation design and it fir...

to buy a tv in a spray can and spray paint it to a wall. Then we can measure our tv's in terms ounces instead of inches !

current gen technology required heavy investments by both producers and consumers. this gen is still on the up and up in terms of gameplay and capability. i say lets enjoy it for another couple years before we start hyping the next gen.

by 2013 consoles can provide enough of a leap technologically without having to cost so much and maybe all the companies can make $$ on the hardware from the get go. Anyhow, who even knows if traditional consoles will be the viable option by then....

well for holographic storage to be viable as a next gen format there would have to be standards developed. Bluray is not only a storage format but a set of standards like BD-J etc. Until there is a consortium supporting the format and a 1-2 year lead time to develop those standards this format would not be viable. Also, i admit i didnt rtfa, does it say anything about access times?

I think 2011 is too soon for next gen. 2013 would allow enough time for next gen technologies such...

looks like 90% of the commenters didn't even read the announcement or watch the video.

lag won't be an issue and most likely bandwidth caps will not either. the core of the service is a 200 fold increase in compression technology, requiring 1mpbs download for 480p and 5mbps download to 720p. customers need to be 1,000 miles or less from a server center.

game journos have already had hands on with the service to mostly positive reviews. yes there are questions on scal...

how many variations of this cr*p article have already been written. the ps360 is failing. the ps360 is succeeding. the wii's not as good as it should be. no click no hit. this must end.

what they (Sony/MS) need to do is release a $299 console in 2013 which will have what was cutting edge in 2011 but would then be cheap(er).

Next Gen :
hardware profit within 90-180 days of release
mature dev tools
leverage this gen's tech
equivalent $299 US launch price (adjusted for inflation) or $399 launch with price reduction to $299 in first year.
b/c ??
keep focus on games

new features :
forward compatibility

people want to utilize their investments. I bought a 360 / PS3 and a Wii all in 2006 (and a replacement 360 in '09) and upgraded my TV in 2005. I would like to not have to consider upgrading until 2012 at the earliest. There's still a lot that can be done this generation. And I'd rather focus on what I can play *right now* or in the near future rather than deal with all the hype and speculation.

Graphical enhancements are nice but balance those with gameplay and affordability --...

that is funny since your "facts" are wrong. PS3's are now retailing for 299 Euro including VAT, which translates roughly to 240 Euro w/o tax or $335 US. So the us is paying $399 without tax and anywhere up to $450 with tax depending on where it is purchased.

A couple of posters in neogaf confirmed the price of 299 euro. However if you rtff some suggest it may be due to currency fluctuations between the euro and the british pound, giving retailers on the continent flexibility to cut the price without an official price cut from Sony.

btw ... 299 euro includes a 20 - 21% VAT so when you factor that out the ps3 is 239.20 euro which is $334 US.

right now 299 GBP = 316 Euro so if European retailers are buying PS3s in GBP it...
