Well, i'm assuming if you're going to consider 2142 in a point in your life where you were "growing up" then you're around the age of college. (same as me). Anyway, I played battlefield non stop from 1942 onward... my favorite being battlefield 2. 2142 was a good game but I was a bit disappointed when they stopped giving us more for battlefield 2. It had only been out a little over a year and they were already onto another title. I don't share your love for 2142 but...

Most matching making algorithms these days try to keep you in the same region to reduce lag. So the region argument is kinda invalid(not that what you said is dumb or anything, I agree with you to an extent). Anyway, almost everyone is doing the pre-order bonuses these days. That's because most people play a game to alleviate stress and not to cause it. Personally, I like to play games for their story and the experience as a whole. I never play games on hard just because I don't have the time to devote to it and the reward for beating it on hard is not satisfying to me. Plus most developers are trying to tell story's now. They like giving the players the ability to finish that story.
